Offered for sale is this early to mid 1800's wood lap writing desk for restoration in poor overall condition. It has a real primitive look to it and would be a great piece if restored. I purchased it at a Maritime Nautical auction in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State. The desk does have much wear and tear. And is missing some of its hardware. The lock and handles are missing and there is a loose board that needs to be re-glued under the small compartments. There is wear on the felt surface and the edges of the wood. It is a little unusual in the sense that it has a"lift top" panel that comes off as the pictures show. The box measures about 17" long by 10 1/2" deep by 7" tall. Very nice piece. Handcrafted by RPS. The Wooden Spigot, Olney, Maryland. It measures about 13" x 8 3/4" with slant going from 2 3/4" to 2 1/4" Great for document or to store your paper for writing. There is a carved in clot that you can put your favorite pen or pencil. It is lined on the inside bottom with a felt. There is also a paper on the inside that addresses cedar. I was not able to find out a whole lot about this product from an estate sale, but please look at pictures carefully and let me know if you need anything. This was used with as a writing desk at one time because if you look under light you will see some indentation on the top wood from markings on paper. Please see pictures. This is a wonderful VINTAGE 1950'S? CHROME PERPETUAL DESK CALENDAR ON A SOLID MAHOGANY WOOD BOX WITH DOVETAILED ENDS. The box measures 7 1/8" x 4 3/4" x 2 3/8" The calendar measures 2 1/4 x 2" x 2 1/2" tall. There is an enameled Westinghouse medallion on the top. If you do not like the advertising medallion. I am sure the disc will easily pop off and you will just need to polish the chrome. I have done this and it is relatively easy. The calendar flips to change the numbers and there are instructions to help you. The date changes perfectly and so do the month and day of the week which roll. This perpetual calendar and box are in excellent condition. The box is a great place to put pencils and pens or trinkets for the desk. Email me with any questions.

Here is an antique wood and metalwork cover. I have seen a similar example as a cover of a cabinet card photo album(see auction 251786244676) and as a cover to a desk blotter. That type of blotter was popular in Europe about 100 years ago for full page blotting. This type of cover could have been used in either case. For sale is just the cover. Or what you see. It is fine metalwork affixed to wood. Please see all the photos. It is in good antique shape with wear and patina. it measures about 12" x 9 1/4. I have seen this type of raised metalwork before by John Henning Jr. His work though was highly reproduced so I will say it is in his style. This antique book stand has a few minor scratches on the top and on the legs. It is very sturdy and moves easily on its wheels. The wheels do show some wear due to age. The lid and bottom each seem to be carved from a single section of wood. As I don't seem to see any signs of joints where pieces were put together used in the construction of it. The lid has a very detailed scene of a lion attacking a cow or bull. I am thinking it is either India/Persian or Chinese in origin. There are no maker's marks or labels on it. Several areas on the wood have small dings and the brass plate has mild corrosion marks.
