The cord on the phone is in excellent shape with ID tags still attached. Original inspection tag still attached, bottom felt is excellent. I took off the bottom plate to show how nice inside is and took a picture of the ID sticker. There is not a scratch on this phone. very nice original finish. The phone looks like new. My research is comparing to other phones. So my opinion is, vintage early 1930's, it is Bakelite, and cord tag Duratex MD-4-F matches the period. In 1925. Western Electric introduced its first handset telephone, the A1. The A1 telephone was produced in limited quantities and is extremely scarce today. The A1 handset mounting consisted of a brass base and a short-stemmed cradle and plunger made of an aluminum alloy. The A1 cradle accommodated the newly designed E type handset. Like its desk stand predecessors. The A1 also required a bell box(not included) The A1 base is identical to the base used on a dial desk stand. Except no patent information is stamped on the edge of the A1 base. The patent information on an A1 is located on the short cradle stem(D76869) I removed the 2HB dial and oiled it recently so the leads are still unattached as you can see in the photo. You are bidding on a wood& wicker desk organizer/ letter holder. It's dark wood& the sides& front are wicker attached to wood. It's 15 1/2" wide. 8" high in the back, 5 1/2" high in the front& 7 1/2" in depth. There are 5 compartments; 2 are the entire width, 2 in the front are about 2 1/2" wide& 1 in the front is about 9" wide. It's very sturdy. There are some areas where the wood is scratched& a little rough. The right top front corner is a lttle rough& could use a little sanding. The wicker is all intact except for 1 end in the front that is coming away from the front top rim. I originally bought this to sand down& paint white. But decided on a different type of desk organizer.

And a reversible lift away blotter, one side is brown, the other is a light grey.
