DESCRIPTION: Retro space age armless"slipper" sofa with a leather insert over a wood and resin chassis. Maker unknown but it reminds me of the modernist. Futuristic Steelcase sofas. I believe the upholstery is leather.looks like leather, feels like leather. When I lifted the back section off the frame just enough to take a photo of the underside of the fabric. It has the suede-type backing of leather. So either it's real or a very good synthetic. The frame is wood with a plastic resin-type, smooth finish. Easy to re-paint. Needs new strapping on underside(which is why it dips in the center) DIMENSIONS: 75" long x 33" depth x 27" tall. Frame itself is approx 70" long x 25" depth x 22" tall at back. CONDITION: Wood/resin frame in very good condition with a big scratch on the back. Each bottom corner ... morehas a stress fracture that does not affect stability. It's recommended that the base be lightly refinished and repainted. There are no holes. Tears or blemishes to the leather. Slightly worn in areas but no damage. Almost identical to a Knoll design with it's own touch. Notice the sharp angle of the inner back rest supporting the cushions for a proper comfortable seat. Knoll designers int he 60's and 70's went to work for steelcase and often produced very similar examples. Quality construction and properly performed upholstery at the Steelcase facilities with chrome bar bases that go around the entire sofa. I have a 1950's Steelcase tanker desk for sale. It has some slight cosmetic issues. A few love dings and a minor amount of rusting around the table top but otherwise this desk is good to go as is or for a complete restoration. All drawers work well/smooth and I have the original key, middle locking drawer works(lock one drawer, they all lock) It is a light to medium grey in color. I purchased this desk earlier in the year thinking I would have time to do a complete restoration but I can't do it now and it's a bit to big for my current office area.
