Dazor Model 2056 flying saucer desk lamp mid century atomic era Mad Men
This is an outstanding Dazor Model 2056"flying saucer" desk lamp. Made in St. Louis, Missouri. The lamp is working and in excellent condition. Though there are some of the minor scuffs that come with age, there is no heavy oxidation on the brass arm, no chipped paint, and the fiberglass shade is intact with no cracks or other damage, even the felt pad on the underside is in great shape. The lamp is about 12 inches in height, and 24 inches in length. The circular"flying saucer" part is about 13 inches across. The rhomboid base is fairly heavy, to keep the lamp stable with the light hanging out off to the side as it does. This vntage schaeffer desk set is absolutely beautiful. The ink pen is the old school type and it rests on a slab of black onyx or quartz. that measures 7.5 inches wide and 4 inches wide and 1 inch tall. The underside has green felt and then the sheffer logo. There is a huge medallion with the united states navy seal. And underneath an area for a name which was never filled out so it could still be used for personal name. Overall it is in really beautiful condition. There is no ink in the pen so you would need to fill it. Also there are some scuffs to ink pen. and the navy seal medallion needs cleaned. The black stone needs polished and there is a chip on one side but overall this truly is a rare find. The black stone with the gold tone medallion is really beautiful. This estate sale find is a very large fan with 4 brass fan blades. the badge on the front makes this a Robbins Myers fan. The badge is hard to read but I think it says this is a model 3804. The cage on this measures 16 3/4" round. And the blades are about 7" This amazingly large and heavy fan has white paint speckles on it. There is an very long cord. With a replaced plug on the end. This cord is not in very good condition. When I plugged this in and moved the 3 speed switch the fan thought about it for a second then ... moreslowly started to turn. I did not let this run any longer, I do not want to do any damage. So there is power, but this needs repair. The cage does have minor bends. When I am selling an item I know nothing about, I only wipe it off to show the item. There are holes in the base so you can mount this on a wall. There are 2 adjusting wing nuts. Cleaned up. This desk set is by Kronheimer Oldenbusch. An American Company. It dates 1894-1942. It is solid heavy bronze and contains it's original liner of amber colored glass. The blotter has a replaced paper blotter. The carving is wonderful and deeply scrolled. The inkwell measures approx 7 1/4" wide x nearly 5" deep. The blotter measures approx 4 1/4" wide. The makers mark is pictured on the bottom of the back. Some cleaning is necessary. WWII US Army Air Corps Aviator's Lap Desk RARE
From personal collection of lap desks. This 1940's US Army Air Corps Aviator's Lap Desk was utilized by pilots and air crew during WWII. This lap desk was proudly displayed and cared for in a smoke free home. The last ten years or so, it has been sealed and stored and only brought out on occasion. The folder shows signs of wear but is well preserved and in good condition. The condition and contents; paper tablet, envelopes, 1943 calendar, picture of MacArthur and little address/memo booklet are- as well as the imperfections- as it came to me in the late 1980's. I purchased this for my lap desk collection. It has not been cleaned, treated or preserved in any way. This two sided folder holds an 8" x 11" paper tablet on the right. The left side contains a pocket calendar view. A full length pocket for envelopes, letters, ... moreetc. small address book pocket as well as a small picture view- most likely for a sweetheart, not the General. As the pictures show. There is wearing on the top(pic#11) and bottom(pic#12) of the exterior spine. There are indentations on the back(pic#10) The exterior appears to be a low grade leather but I cannot be sure. The interior is an adhered plastic lining. The snap button closure is curling(pic#9) but works well and secures the folder. The button curling may have progressed a bit but the leather wear and dings on the back have not worsened in the 25 years that I possessed this piece. I do not believe these imperfections are a detriment to the quality of this over 1/2 century old lap desk. It measures right around 11' x 8" and weighs approx. 1lb 4oz. This is a vintage piece of history. I have yet to see another one. It will be listed for seven days. I will relist it once and then return it to my collection. 981) 1888- Desk Remembrancer- Daily Diary. Condition: Very Good This wonderful Desk Remembrancer from W. G. Hitchcock& Co. is a wonderful over sized daily notation book for the year of 1888. The cover has an image of the Hitchcock Building in New York. The inside pages are divided into days. With full page illustrated ads interspersed between the months. There are notations made by Blanche(owner of the book) up to August. Many of the notations deal with school, trips to New York, and interestingly the design and planting of her garden. On the back of one page she has done a complete drawing of where the walks, planting beds etc. are going. Many of the notations deal with the type of plants she was adding to the garden. Anton Chotka (1875 - 1925) - Cold-Painted Vienna Bronze Pheasant Desk Piece
This is a wonderful old Vienna bronze desk piece by Austrian sculptor. Anton Chotka(1875-1925) The subject is a beautiful bronze pheasant(11.5" long x 4.5" high) on a green oval-shaped onyx base(8.5" x 13.75" As depicted in the photographs, the cold-painted colors and the detail in the bird are amazing. The bronze is signed"CHOTKA" and marked"AUSTRIA" I am not an expert. But overall, I would say that the piece is in excellent condition for its age. The faults are as follows: 1) there is a very small chip on the edge of the onyx base as depicted in one of the photos that has become somewhat smooth over time; 2) there is a circular area in the concave area of the base(see photo) that looks like some sort of water mark; 3) there is nut missing on the bottom of the base(see photo) there is minor paint loss ... moreconsistent with the age of the piece.
