Up for auction is a very Nice LUX Mid Century Modern Desk or wall clock made by the Robert Shaw Control Company. Clock is black with gold trim. 5 5/8 by 4 inch plastic dial. Height.6 1/8 inches. Width, 7 1/16 inches. AC electric movement. The day of the week and the date change every 24 hours, the month is changed by pushing a tab on the back of the clock. Made by Robert Shaw Controls Company, Lux Time Division Lebanon, Tenn. U.S.A. I am sure what type of plastic this is made of. Condition is very good for a clock that is likely 50 years old or older. I got it in an Estate sale a couple of weeks ago. It was working then. I brought it home and plugged it in, two weeks later time was correct as well as day an date. This clock is in great physical condition, everything is there, all knows and glass is good and plastic has no chips. Gold trim ... moreis in very good presentable condition. A few small specks, some I rubbed off with a finger nail. Not sure if they all will come off but they are really not noticeable anyway. Glass needs cleaned, has some smudges, I wiped with a cloth but that was it. Knobs look like brass, and have a nice patina. Great old clock. IMHOF MECHANICAL MOVEMENT GILT BRASS DESK CLOCK 1960'S This is a circular gilt brass ImHof desk or vanity. Tabletop clock with a mechanical key wind 7 jewel movement. It is inclined and higher in the back and rests on 3 ball feet that unscrew. The front is 1 1/4" high and the back rises 1 3/4" Open work gilt brass design with a mother of pearl face composed of small squares. It dates from the 1960's. Close up photographs of all markings and serial numbers as I am not a clock expert. I did have a clock person open it so I could photograph the mechanism. It is marked ImHof inside and SWISS under the numeral 6 on the face. Bottom rim is marked 71 452. It is fully functional and has been running 7 consecutive hours so far as I did not fully wind it. The clock was originally gilded and then lacquered and the lacquer is peeling ... moreoff in spots shown in the photos very evident on the back where the markings are. It could use a good cleaning and internal servicing as I have had the clock for over 30 years and just recently had it opened for photographs. Spots that appear to be tarnish on the open work design are discolored lacquer which I have not attempted to remove. The crystal is undamaged. Inside on the edges of number 3 and number 12 there seems to be some specks. Hard to photograph but it looks like tiny pieces of lacquer. You almost need a loupe to see these. When viewed from normal distance most of the noted spots are not that visile. All in all it is in very good condition and close up photos do not show the gilt color perfectly as it is bright. I have seen a simlar clock with a red Guilloche face but could not find a reference for this one.

Antique Early 1900's French Partner's Desk - Very Ornate and Rare! Unique!
PRICE LOWERED! Up for sale is what I believe to be an early 1900's vintage French Partner's Desk. All original(except for a refinish) Done in Country French/Art Nouveau style. The desk came with a one-page signed appraisal from May 10, 1982 showing a value of $7500.00. I had a current full appraisal report done on the piece(including a Certificate of Authenticity) on May 27th of this year which shows a fair market value of $3200.00 and an Insurance value of $3840.00. I was unhappy with some of that appraiser's findings and disagreed with some of her opinions, so I also brought the desk to"Antiques Roadshow" here in Albuquerque in July. Their"Expert Appraiser" had a much different opinion of the piece, but still valued it in the $3500.00 to $4000.00 range. Unfortunately, the Roadshow absolutely prohibits giving ... moreanything in writing, so the only proof of an appraisal or value given from them is if you get on TV(which I did not) I think you'll agree, however, that his opinions of the piece are much more likely than the opinions in the written report(read-on) Differences: Well. First off is a big one.The appraisal report I have states that the wood is Satin Walnut whereas the Expert from the Roadshow clearly stated the primary wood was mahogany. I'm no wood expert, but I can certainly take close-up pics and/or follow instructions to help you determine the wood type. Secondly, the appraisal report states that the original desk dates to the early mid 19th century(1800-1850 or so) and the Art Nouveau carvings as well as the"checkered" inlays on the top were added later. The Roadshow expert strongly disagreed with this stating that the entire desk dated from about 1910 and was all-original. Lastly(and what makes me most suspicious about the appraisal report) the appraiser thought that the inlays on the top were actually put there as chess boards. She even mentions in the report"Later Art Nouveau carvings were added to the desk as well as two chess boards on the top of

Originally designed as a dressing table/ vanity, today it would make for THE MOST PERFECT"disappearing" home office secretary. Okay, follow along carefully. At first. The piece presents itself similar to any mid size four drawer dresser but that is where the similarity ends. The bottom three drawers are traditional storage, however, the top drawer is so much more. When you pull it out, a portion of the chest top surface actually opens along with it creating a spacious work top perfect for a laptop or desktop computer. The rear portion of the chest top is stationary, ... moreso a computer monitor or anything else can permanently sit on the top without being disturbed when sliding the work top out. Next, with the work top surface pulled out, you can flip it up and open revealing a divided storage interior perfect again for all your home office needs. Currently the original"vanity" mirror is on the underside of the work top BUT you can remove it(just 4 screws) and instead attach a cork or magnetic board to complete your home office set up: FANTASTIC!
