This is a gorgeous Danish cabinet or desktop filing cabinet. Made of teak with a tambour locking door. It has 6 slide out felt lined shelves and a storage area with one shelf to the left. The front tambour door has no flaws. the sides are in great condition as seen in the pics. One edge has slight nicks as seen in pic#9. The top shows the most wear as seen in pics#7.8 and 10. The locking mechanism is spring loaded and works well. This piece came from a house full of designer danish that was bought in Copenhagen and brought back to the states by the original owners. Mid Century Danish Modern Teak Cantilevered Desk with front Bookcase Lovig
This is an amazing Danish teak desk with a cantilever design. It has three angled drawers and a bookcase in the front. Made of teak with what I believe to be walnut legs. All of the drawers slide easily. As seen in pics# 9 and 10 the desk top has surface scratces. But in my opinion these do not take away from the overall piece. As seen in pic# 11. It is missing two screws, one on either side in the center. This does not seem to affect the stability whatsoever. I just like to be very descriptive. Unfortunately I was unable to find out the designer or manufacturer. It has no markings I could find. This piece reminded me of the Vladimir Kagan"unicorn" chair with its great design. VERY FINE AMERICAN CHIPPENDALE SLANT FRONT DESK WITH FITTED INTERIOR Probably Newburyport. Massachusetts c. 1770 Provenance from the Israel Sack Collection w/ original label signed by Israel Sack in top drawer Held in a single collection since 1931(provenance details available upon request) Item# 409LXI13S A remarkable work of art from the Newburyport area of Massachusetts. This fine American Chippendale desk is clearly executed by a craftsman of some skill. The case is joined in a manner typical of the work center, the top with tidy exposed dovetails along both sides, the bottom board likewise dovetailed into the sides of the case. The drawer blades are set into the sides of the case behind a thin applied stile on either side, these carved with raised edges to simulate cockbead molding around the drawers. The backboards are bevelled around ... moreall three edges to set flush against the back, affixed at regular intervals with mostly original iron sprigs. Each drawer is crafted with utmost precision and care, the complex blocked drawer sawn from a very thick board in a manner that leaves the drawer light and agile while the beautiful mahogany plank maintains strength and stability. These slide smoothly in and out of the case with little friction or wiggle. The lid lowers to rest on a pair of mahogany lopers revealing an attractive fitted interior with six pigeon-hole compartments over three small drawers over two large drawers and an open storage compartment flanked by a pair of blocked drawers with half-shell carvings. A pair of document drawers flank the middlemost pigeon-hole and drawer, these with beautiful turned columns closely related to the Newburyport work center, one inscribed"William Holker/ Mooney's Block Water Street" The entire case rests over ogee bracket feet and conforming stepped molding, the lower 1 3/4" of all feet having been replaced in the early 20th century. This is a very nice mahogany with satinwood inlay American writing desk. to the top behind the door there are drawers with pigeon holes. To the base there are there drawers to either side they are there compartments for keeping bottle of drinks. It has the pull down flap for writing with a green baize. It sits on square tapered legs with some inlay. The top comes of the base so its easy to transport. A very nice American piece of antique. Measurements are 41 wide 48 high 21 deep. Stickley Chalet Desk -- Circa 1900 -- the Original!
Circa 1900- the earliest chalet desk Stickely made and very rare. Note the differences in construction between this example and those made later. For example, in 1902. So this one is definitely for the discerning collector. This is the very desk featured so prominently in David Cathers’ stunning coffee table book. Gustav Stickley(he borrowed this desk for some months for his photography and research) Description excerpted from Cathers’ book: A good example of the“New Furniture” Stickley introduced in 1900 in his“Chalet” desk. The desk’s fall-front is framed with four boards fastened to one another with tongue-in-groove joints and enclosing a slightly raised central panel. When it is closed. The fall-front is held in place by a hand-cut wooden knob that fits into the subtle protrusion of the desk’s upper shelf. When the fall-front is open, ... morethe horizontal line of its cantilever echoes the line of the long, projecting(and inexplicably curvaceous) feet. Three shallow arches are cut into the lower edge of the fall-front. They are faint, though symmetrical hints, perhaps of the Art Nouveau whiplash or the“lift” motif seen on some of Stickley’s other 1900 furniture. The Chalet desk has an awkward charm. And it is irresistible both for what it is and for the promise it makes to the future. It is a daring design that, despite its geometric shapes, seems more biomorphic than mechanical, and looks at first glance perhaps less like a desk than some fantastic bird with talons and spurs on its overlong feet. Yet this small, seemingly frail piece of furniture is clearly a built object: it bristles with tenon-and-key joints and other symbols of structure. For Sale is this great Thomasville Cherry Wood Executive File Credenza Desk First note is when looking at the photos please ignore the circle spots. They are dust in the air, I had to take the photos in the garage, THEY ARE NOT spots on the desk itself The desk is in great condition however it is used so there are some swirl markings on the top they aren't scratches into the wood it looks like someone maybe used a rough rag to wipe it down at some point and on the back it looks like it was rubbed against a white wall. This FINE Antique Executive Desk Was Manufactured By Doten- Dunton Desk Company Of Cambridge. Massachusetts. The Name Is Synonymous With Fine Commercial Furniture. The chair fits neatly into the 20 inch wide by 26 inch high desk opening. Please refer to the attached photos of both the desk and the chair. The desk itself is approx. 31 inches in height, 38 inches in width and 67 inches in length. It is constructed of solid walnut and veneers. Up for auction is this gas table lamp from Welsbach. This was acquired at a recent estate sale and will be sold as is as found. It has a very nice art deco look especially the on/ off handle for the gas. The column is very ornately finished at the top with scroll work. This does come with the gas line but it is cracked and dry the fitting is attached to the lamp on one end and the connector for the gas main is on the other end. The collar under the burner is stamped WELSBACH. Look closely at the pictures to see the quality and condition of this lamp. This lamp is a real draw to the eye and would make a statement wherever you place it. Working or not. The stand for the lamp measures 5 x 5 and the lamp itself is just under 15 inches.
