WWI Antique Desk Set Tanks Trench Art Clock Ink Well Battle Field Helmet
We are offering for your consideration an antique desk set with a working clock and inkwell. This desk set is made of what I would call pot metal. That has a plated finish. The inkwell has WW1 French Renault FT-17 tank crossing a trench. There is also an Adrain helmet that opens for the inkwell. There is a place to hold the pen in front and just below the pen holder is a small brass name plate. On the name plate is; Sir de LUNEVILLE it is attached with 2 small cotter pins. The inkwell measures 5 inches long and about 2 ¾ inches tall. There is no glass ink holder inside. The clock has 2 Renault FT-17 tanks on it and it measures 8 ½ inches long and is about 4 ½ inches high. The clock runs well but I will not guarantee it to keep accurate time. This is a vintage brass Perpetual Calendar marked FLORN GERMANY. It is complete with all the monthly tags. There is a dial on the back to change the 1. 2, or 3 part of the month. To change the second number of the month you click the top back. The calendar has a plate on the base for engraving. The bottom of the base is covered in felt. There is a small mark above the second number of the date and a small dent in the frame that holds the monthly names. Overall. The calendar is in great condition for it's age. You can tell that it has decent age just by the crap condition of the felt bottom, has that"been sitting on its felt base for a long time" look about it, as shown. Solid brass"shell" lid with a cast iron inner body so it's a little on the"weighty" side. Could be cleaned/polished up a bit I suppose if desired& the felt should be replaced to help avoid scratching any desk surface that it comes in contact with. No makers marking, but I'm guessing that there might have been a label on the bottom a long time ago, probably made in the USA but who knows by whom, does seem to have good quality about it. Depth of the insert would be 1 1/2" to the very top(a little shorter to the"shoulder" diameter is shown, base is 4 1/2" square& 2 1/4" tall. Very nice Windsor style chair. Bent wood back. Antique hand-hewn thick wood plank as the seat. I'd guess this old chair is from about the end of the 1800s. It is in really nice condition. All original. American Windsor side chair. It has an old white paint. The original color seems to be a dark brown. The frame of the chair is solid and sturdy. It has turned spindles on the back. And lesser amount on the legs and front rung. The size of the chair is 20" wide. Total of 17" deep, 33" tall. A great chair for a desk. Kitchen, side chair or kids. Antique Mahogany Lap Desk Velvet Interior Compartments Missing Lock
Up for auction is an antique lap desk recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia PA area. It has no inkwells. It is missing covers and dividers to the compartments, we feel the velvet may not be the original, it has age but does not seem as old as the piece perhaps, The lock mechanism is missing. None the less a beautiful example of an antique lap desk worthy of a little repair with the pieces inside in photo 6. The exterior of the lock is there, but only the face, the locking mechanism was removed prior to auction. The monogram plate was never engraved but has some surface scratching, along with the whole piece, commensurate with age and use. There are some remnants of tape on the top, perhaps from auction or estate labeling. This piece measures 15" x 10 x 6" It appears to have been well used in its day, guessing ca ... more1850s, but the wood still retains a lovely lustre patina. The black leather top has recently been replaced so it is in great shape. There are various dings and marks through the desk on the top edges. Mouldings, and feet. Both sides of the knee-hole are slightly worn, showing you that this desk has seen plenty of action in its lifetime. This 1940's black bake lite telephone is in good condition. The receiver has the word Leich on it. But there are no other marks or numbers anywhere else that I could find. The cloth cord has some fraying next to the receiver and next to the base of the telephone. The receiver also has the curved mouthpiece. This item is 5" high, 9" across the receiver and 5" from front to back across the base. The base is also 6" wide. There is a felt/wool type fabric on the bottom of the phone to prevent scratching your furniture. The original telephone number is still on the face of it. This would make a great conversation piece, it could be used as a teaching aide or for a prop in a play. The uses for this item are endless. vintage wooden organizer desk top w/ clock
Vintage wood desk top organizer. Left to right 15" Front to back 11 3/4" it's about 4 3/4" tall in the front and 8" tall in the back(yes, it's taller in the back than the front) It has a little drawer in the front, one large and deep storage slot along the back, 4 more storage slots in front of it and a clock that is mounted on a piece that lifts up so you can change the battery and also have hidden storage. I don't think the clock was an original part of this piece. It was probably added at some point, but it doesn't look like an afterthought, it was done really well, and the clock works. This is an old piece but I don't know how old, it has a couple cracks and worn areas, but it's still in good, solid condition. It's also dirty and needs to be cleaned. Questions welcome. Sorry.
