The cabinet has a drawer and a locked cabinet with original key. There is no damage except a few scratches and a shrink crack that is close. This appears to be a booklet that the sophomore class at Syracuse University had made for a reception for freshman. In probably 1904. It's only a few papers and not very large but it sure has that Syracuse pennant with the big S in the familiar orange triangle. The activities are interesting especially the toasts and topics like, What can we do for our Alma Mater? The students just arrived days before! The script is ornate, the various organizers and class officers are cited and despite the quaintness, there is the polite, refreshing formality. The first dormitories at SU were built in 1900 and 1904 so the campus was expanding when this reception was held. The first graduating class, unknown year, had FIVE students, four men and one women. All these private schools had very small numbers compared to the present. This is an interesting ... moreitem that is almost 110 years old. The print is good, minor stains on the cover but overall a gem I think. With all the many thousands of SU graduates let me know if you are one. Syracuse was one of the most liberally minded schools in the country in admissions over a century ago with men and women in roughly equal numbers and attending the same classes. The admittance also reportedly saw race and religion as not obstacles for admission.

No cracks, some paper lost in the front corner and back. writing in spanish lenguage. Very interesting information inside about some tubes aplications. NEW!! Grand Titanic Downton Era Edwardian Pink Silk Formal Reception Dress NR
Check out my! Be swept back in time! From my traveling museum collection. Which began at age 15, I offer for your consideration: An incredible pink silk Edwardian lace and net accented formal reception dress. This is a beauty! So feminine. Whoever wore this must have been the Belle of the Ball! It dates from the mid 1900's, right around the year of the Titanic. It's also reminiscent of the stunning formal dresses on the celebrated series Downton Abbey. The delicate ecru colored lace inserts are fabulous! All of the exquisite needlework inserts were done by hand. The silk is a pale pink color and the dress has a formal train. The dress closes with hooks and eyes down the back. It has a lovely attached silk sash at the waist which also fastens in the back. Truly elegant in every way! There are some issues due to the fact that it's ... morean antique garment. If you want brand new looking. Than this is probably not for you. I describe as accurately as possible, and there are 12 photos as E-bay allows. Additional photos are available upon request. There are separations in the ecru netting at both shoulders. A break in the netting/lace on the right sleeve, a tiny hole in the back center netting and a slight water mark at the center back above the sash, which can barely be seen in the photo. There are several small stains/spots on the hemline, and underneath the hemline, due to the train dragging on the floor. There are a few minute breaks in the silk in the back area of the train. There's also a small brown spot on the left back side, above the sash, the size of a pencil eraser. White underslip not included in auction. From a smoke free. Pet free home. Thanks for visiting! This is a page from the October 1899 The Delineator. It is double sided, I have chosen to only show you one side. The title is Handsome Reception Gowns The other side of the ad is Ladies' Tea Jackets and Negligee's(no color) Please Note-I have a large number of the Antique Plate Prints. They are all in various conditions. These are BEAUTIFUL original pieces that would look gorgeous in a frame. I will give their name if it is on the print. PLEASE see all off the photos-descriptions are vague merely because of the large amount of these. These belong to a long time collector of Victorian pieces. They were very well cared for once in his possession. But as you can tell they all do show signs of age(some more than others) Some appear that the size of the magazine was smaller and they have a crease or pleat where the page folds. I did notice ... morethat when I scanned these some are larger than the face of my printer so you cannot see the bottom that gives the information listed above in black. On average they measure 10" by 8" some bigger some smaller Due to computer variances. Lighting, etc. the coloring may differ(brighter/darker) than the actual item.
