1884 WASHINGTON ARTILLERY NEW ORLEANS- Fabulous Die-Cut LEE MONUMENT Reception. A complex die-cut piece that is 12 inches wide and long when fully opened. Inside is another die-cut piece that has four pages listing the officers and committees for the reception. The many pictures show how it appears as it is opened. The piece was made for the ceremonies connected with the unveiling of the statue of General Robert E. Lee. At Lee circle, New Orleans, Louisiana, February 22, 1884. It was made in the tradition of the elaborate Mardi Gras invitations of the last few decades of the 1800's. The Washington Artillery was founded on September 7. 1838 as the Washington Artillery Company. It received its regimental flag in August 1846 after serving under Zachary Taylor in the Mexican–American War. On May 26. 1861, the Unit was mustered into the American ... moreCivil War; four companies served in the Army of Northern Virginia and a fifth was in the Army of Tennessee. Elements of the Washington Artillery participated in over sixty major actions. Cornelius Vanderbilt was Chairman of the Welcoming Committee which staged elaborate festivities in the Battery in NYC. This 2.5" tall badge has the event date"June 18. 1910" on the brass hanger. Ribbon below has slight age tone with hairline separation between the threads of the white center stripe but nothing close to a split across the fabric. The only small fabric split is small 1/8" nick at the bottom right corner where the blue fabric goes through the loop of the brass medallion. Front of the 1.25" brass medallion pictures"Theodore Roosevelt" and reverse displays torch, ribbon design and olive wreath with text below"Roosevelt/Reception June 18, 1910. The company was the brain child of Warren Titus and had its headquarters at One Embarcadero Center in San Francisco. Each of the line's initial three vessels was owned by one of its initial investing partners. The first. The Royal Viking Star, was completed in July, 1972. Its owner was Bergenske Dampskibsselskab(Bergen Line) The second, the Royal Viking Sky, was owned by Nordenfjeldske Dampskibsselskab of Trondheim. She was completed in July 1973. Pale green, linen coordinating table runners for large rectangular tables: 1 coordinating 103"x 17" and 3 coordinating 128" x 25" I had these custom-made for our ceremony. They have since been dry cleaned and pressed. And I have inspected them for any stains or pulls and have found none. I would say these are a"celery" color but I'm horrible with colors, so please consult the photos! I tried to include shots with many other colors for comparison. All are made from the same fabric.

You are bidding on a great dance program from the Reception and Ball Honoring the Governor and State Officials and the Members of the Legislature which was held at the State Capitol in Oklahoma City on February 20. 1924. The outside of the program is one piece of heavier paper folded about in half vertically, and inside is another piece of lighter paper with the lists of the dances, and on the other side the list of the Reception Committee and the representatives of Civic Clubs. The outside measures approx. 6" x 3 5/8" and the inside page is a little smaller. Also attached is the pencil which was used to fill out the dance card, except this one was not filled out. It is in very good condition although the back of the program has moderate+ darkening, spotting and foxing, and spots of silverfish damage along the lower part of the ... moreback page.
