This vintage/antique industrial age office chair is on wheels and swivels. It's in very good vintage/antique condition. It may have been recovered. I'm not sure. The color is a nice brown. This is an unbelievable chair, with a multi-spindle rope twisted back that has 11 twisted spindles, tiger sawn wide oak back that follows the contours of the back, multi-turned spindle posts, spindle supported arms, and all resting upon a four-legged base. It’s in its original oak stain finish, and someone has put on a seat of antique blue suede. It’s all ready to go into the office. It’s a fragile little chair. Very heavy and cool mid century/ industrial stainless steel armchair. Original green seat covers. I believe it is vinyl. This auction is for one chair only. I do have 12 available. All are in great condition. The one pictured has a small area of damage to the chair back as seen in the last photo. There is one other chair that has a very small spot of damage(about a 1" split on the side of a seat cushion) Other than that. The green vinyl is damage free. All frames are super heavy duty and in terrific condition(a light cleaning may be needed) Each chair has a double stack of wooden arm rests. There is some chipping and pieces missing from primarily the corners of the wood. This is not fresh damage, the rough edges are worn smooth with time and use. I believe the seat bottoms are 3/4" plywood( plywood definitely! Not particle or press ... moreboard. Perhaps in a mill somewhere. 15-1/2" wide x 19" deep x 32-1/4" high overall 18-1/2" high as it sits now. I was able to adjust it up. But when I sat on it it slipped back down. I think it was because I didn't tighten the set screw enough, but in case I'm wrong, I would add a collar or spacer to keep it at the height you want it. Decent condition. The padding doesn't have any rips or tears. There are some little tiny spots that look like white-out splatter or paint on the seat along with other cosmetic marks. There is a very small almost pinhole sized nic to the front of the seat that looks like one of those little spots. The metal parts have scratches and wear to the finish in several places as shown. All this is very normal for chairs of this age. I removed thread that was wrapped around the caster wheel hubs and oiled the chair and it now swivels and rolls around easily. Please see the pictures for more details. This chair has been partially dismantled for compact shipment. 1940's Steelcase Metal Office Furnitue Co. Adjustable Office/Drafting Chair
This old Steelcase task/office/drafting chair is in fansastic condition. As the original vinyl( is in near mint condition and the brown paint paint looks so sharp on most of the chair. There is some wear to the paint in some areas, mostlu on top of the bent legs, but also a little on the backrest and the backrest frame(see pic's) There had been some tape on the backrest which has been removed, but the mastic is still there and could be removed(I was unsure what to use) The original casters have a stamp on them saying they were patended 9/42 and they appear to be made of stainless steel, although there is some pitting and surface rust(pic's) It looks like there are 3 spotw where the vinyl has been riveted to the metal seat base plate.
