Up for sale is this gorgeous Clark and Gibby desk chair! The chair is in great condition. With a few spots of wear to the leather but it's still soft and useable. There are several scratches on the leather(see photos) though they are superficial and do not go all the way through. The wood looks great, as do the original gears! This chair is a bit smaller than most antique desk chairs. It stands 31.5" tall to the top of the back. The back rest is 15.5" wide, and the seat is 17.5" wide. This rolling chair is made of teak wood and upholstered in what appears to be black& brown tweed. It measures about 33" high by 23" wide by 21" front to back. With a seat height of about 19.5" On the bottom it is marked"KS MADE IN DENMARK. I believe the designer is Kai Kristiansen. The chair is very comfortable and lightweight- about 18 lbs. It is in good condition with no obvious damage. Vintage Inter-Office Communication Envelope Ohio State Penitentiary Columbus. Ohio This historic 10.25"x 4.5" original envelope comes from one of the most notorious prisons in the United States. This artifact was used within the prison and never meant for public eyes. The Ohio Penitentiary. Also known as the Ohio State Penitentiary, was a prison operated from 1834-1984 in downtown Columbus, Ohio, in what is now known as the Arena District. The prison housed 5,235 prisoners at its peak in 1955. Conditions in the prison have been described as"primitive, and the facility was eventually replaced by the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility, a maximum security facility in Lucasville. During its operation, it housed several well-known inmates, including Confederate General John H. Morgan, who famously escaped the prison during the ... moreCivil War, O. Henry, Chester Himes, and Sam Sheppard, whose story is said to have inspired the movie The Fugitive. A separate facility for women prisoners was completed within the walls of the Ohio Penitentiary in 1837. The buildings were demolished in 1998. Vintage Marble Bankers Chair/ Antique Wood Office or Side Chair
Vintage Bankers Chair made by the BL Marble Co.This chair has had no restoration and is in beautiful shape even with the wear. The wood is a wonderful warm golden color. There is wear on the arms as seen in the photos and there is a social security number scratched into the finish on the back of a front leg. This was a practice that some people did decades ago to easily identify stolen property that might have shown up in a pawn shop. We have not researched the number. This is a great chair that has tons of character! Great old swivel Horn Chair. Chair is sturdy. Looks like it was reupholstered a long time ago with black leather. If you look up under the base closely you can see the other fabric. Crack in one arm see picture. Arm is sturdy despite the crack. A few white marks on the seat and a blemish on the front which can be seen in the picture. Antique P Derby Slat Back, Caned Seat Office Desk Chair w Arms - Gardner, MA
Back when furniture was made to last. This chair seems to have had quite a busy life. So much so that the caned seat wore out. It has been recaned and has a wonderful patina that has been preserved and not refinished. This chair is extremely comfortable and solid. The recaned seat will last for years to come. Derby. Knowlton and Co. was established in Gardner in 1863. Several years later, Mr. Derby bought out his business partners. In 1880 he established P. Derby& Co. By 1897 P. Derby& Co. was listed as the second-largest chair manufacturer in the country. It had branches in Boston, New York and Chicago. The company specialized in cane furniture, but also made traditional wooden tables and chairs. It went out of business in 1935. This chair still has the label on the underside of the seat.
