This lovely desk with bookcase above and drawers below was recently imported from the UK through Edinburgh. Scotland and is mahogany with beautiful burl inlay, carved trim, ball and claw feet, really nice tear drop metal pulls and glass doors with wood frets protecting the bookcase. This delightful piece stands 77 inches tall and measures 39 inches wide by 18 inches deep. Front to back. It travels safely in two pieces, the top 36 inches wide by 9 inches deep front to back and 36 inches tall. The bureau base with desk stands 41 inches tall and is 39 inches wide by 18 inches front to back. Inside the top bookcase the measurements are 33 inches wide by 7 1/2 inches front to back by ... more25 inches tall and in addition to the base of the case there are two adjustable shelves each 25 inches long by 7 1/2 inches front to back. Midcentury Hooker Floating Desk. Scandinavian or Danish Style. App. Dimensions 50x26x30. This is a vintage piece so there is normal wear/scuff as this item was used untill very recently. One blemish is more noticeable but in the back where you would flush it against the wall(see picture) All other are minor scuff. Desk top is in pristine condition(no glass ring, watch dent. as it has always been protected by a glass that is cut to shape. Price/Auction is for the desk only but the glass will be provided. Do not ask for refund if glass breaks in transport and do not ask for a lesser price for desk without the glass. Glass alone is worth a few hundred dollars if you had to have it made. The set consists of: 1- Tray with removable inkwell and pen holder. Pen is not present. Tray measures 6&6/8" x 5&2/8"x 6/8" 7.2cm x 3,4 cm.x 2cm. inkwell measures 2&1/16" height x 2" x2" 5,50cm. x 5 cm. x 5 cm. and the glass top is about 1/32" higher on its left side. A fine antique Victorian English cut glass and sterling silver galleried desk standish; part of our silverware collection. Description. This very fine Victorian sterling silver desk standish has a rectangular form. The inkstand has a hallmarked pierced decorated gallery incorporating a vacant circular cartouche. The gallery is ornamented with an egg and tongue decorated border. The stand is supported by four impressive scrolling bracket style feet embellished with chased leaf decoration. To the front of the standish is a plain sunken pen well. And to the rear are the two original cut glass, rectangular ink bottles. The ink bottles retain the original hallmarked silver mounts and hallmarked hinged covers. The covers are encircled with an egg and ... moretongue decorated border. To the centre of each cover is a bright cut engraved crest of a demi boar rampant with an arrow piercing the chest* NOTE: This crest pertains to the family of Bowles. Unusual Antique Bear Pen Wipe with Glass Eyes- for a Well Dressed Desk!
Unusual bear pen wipe. Probably 19th century. He has had replacement bristles. First impressions are that he is made from bronze. However, unexpectedly light to hold, this bear is made I think from some sort of ceramic material and then painted. On one of his haunches there is a little wear where the underneath colour shows. Alternatively he could be made from some sort of very light weight metal. On close inspection it is possible to see the lines left from the mould. I have never come across anything like him before- his material if ceramic would render him fragile and I doubt if many survive. Possibly German in origin- looks very Black Forest in design. Has lovely glass eyes and wonderful detail of his fur coat etc which I have tried to capture on the photographs. He is just under 6" long and stands just over 3" high. For your consideration is an Art Deco Machine Age Flying Saucer Desk Lamp from a New York City Estate. Best and beautiful this Art Deco Era desk lamp dated 1921 on the underside of the shade(see photo) made using cast white metal/spelter with a bronze finish.The shade is a dome shape of opal translucent glass with a repeating draping embossed pattern on the top(see photo) as signed in raised block on the bottom Miller Company.Overall the condition is excellent as there is no damage or repair although there is slight finish loss on the top band which is not really noticeable or detract from the amazing look of the lamp.The lamp has been rewired for safe immediate use and measures 15" tall and the glass dome shade has a 9.5" diameter. ANTIQUE (VICTORIAN??) PEN HOLDER & DOUBLE GLASS INK WELL DESK SET
ANTIQUE(VICTORIAN? PEN HOLDER& DOUBLE GLASS INK WELL DESK SET: There are no identifiers on this old pen holder and double glass ink well desk set. As to its maker or even its country of origin. My three photos can speak for themselves as to the appearance and overall physical condition of this desk set. The desk set weighs TWO pounds and SIX ounces. The desk set's base appears to be made out of oak. The base is 7.25 inches in diameter. And is 1 3/8 inches thick. The ink wells are 1 15/16 inches wide and 2 5/16 inches tall. Each ink well has eight sharp edges. One ink well has three tiny chips on the top points of three edges next to each other. The other glass ink well has eight or nine tiny imperfections in its outer glass surfaces, spread over the ink well's eight panels. I am being very critical in my descriptions, viewing ... morethese items from a critical buyer's perspective, but the casual observer, may not even notice any of these alleged imperfections, and when set in their places on the desk set, some of these alleged imperfections can not even be seen! Notice, with the ink well lids in their raised/open positions, the inside of the caps/covers and their bases are silver or nickel plated? The silver finish"glows" rather than"shines" and it tarnishes, so I believe the brass tops on this pair of glass ink wells were once silver plated. As is evident by the caps on the ink wells being brass. Apparently this desk set is old enough and has been polished enough by someone, to have polished off all the silver plating on the exterior surfaces of the ink well caps/covers! The polygon glass ink wells set into octagon shaped depressions in this wooden desk set. The bottom of the two octagon shaped depressions are covered with black velvet. I have had this double ink well desk set in my collection for years, but have never polished any of its metal surfaces, so the metal surfaces do display an age acquired patina. Cord is an old circa post-WWII 50s 60s or 70s era rewire with visible taping underneath. Patina appears to be an older polishing of about the same era as the cord rewiring and panel replacements. Vintage mid century tole shade desk lamp in excellent working order and includes the original milk glass diffuser. This lamp stands 25" tall from the bottom of the base to the top of the decorative ring. The heavy metal shade had gold detailing and is 12" in diameter. The cord is original to the piece. This desk clock is so beautiful with the solid blue glass casing. Right now. I don't think it works. It has nothing to do with the second-hand being off, I just don't have the proper key to wined it. It could work perfectly find and the secondhand just needs to be reattached. Look at the detail of the face. Under the six. You see the Chinese writing, this could be the maker. The anchor above the six throws me off alittle. Could be a desk clock a sailor would have used in the navy.
