The Starrett 230FL series outside micrometer has a vernier scale in inch units for taking precise outside diameter(OD) measurements. And a friction thimble mechanism for uniform pressure during adjustment. The vernier scale on the thimble and sleeve is graduated to 0.0001. The micrometer is made of high-grade tool steel with a satin chrome rust- and glare-resistant finish. The spindle and anvil have micro-lapped measuring faces for accuracy and are carbide-tipped for wear resistance. A knurled ring-type lock nut helps provide secure locking of the measurement position. This is an incredibly nice instrument in nearly pristine condition. It also comes with its ORIGINAL Box. Leatherette Latching Case, wrench and instructions. Very nice starrett 436RL- 3 micrometer 2-3" The Micrometer is in good cosmetic condition no engravings the box does have some wear on it. There is a picture shown with a 3" standard in and it looks like maybe a half thousand off. There is no standard in the auction. Friction thimble and lock work fine, faces are in good shape no chips, how to read micrometer manual but there is no wrench.
