The LS Starrett Co.Athol Mass USA No.440 depth micrometer with 7 rods and case. This item is from my brother-in-laws estate who was a machinist that worked on the space shuttle program for NASA. As with most of his tools there is a name lightly inscribed on the surface of the tool and his name written on the top of the case with a black permanent marker. The inscription on the tool could be buffed out but other than that it seems to be in good working order. This particular one was apparently a gift, the name of the receiver is engraved on the side of the tool. Box and tool are in vintage condition normal wear for its age. So I think this Micrometer was used at that time. While I don't know the age for sure, this micrometer came from my Uncle who was an Engineer from 1947 until the present. See photos for condition.
