Scherr Tumico 0-12" Depth Micrometer Set .001" Complete in Case w/ Ratchet Stop
Older model Scherr Tumico 0-12" depth micrometer set in wood case. The mic turns freely& the ratchet stop works. It is clean. As are all of the depth rods, but it is older and shows it's age. When I checked it on a surface plate. The 0-1" rod is reading-0005" so it will need calibration. I think it's safe to assume that all of the rods may need adjustment. Some of the rods are in better shape than others(light pitting. Etc on the faces) but all look like they should be OK. The wood case is beat up& the lid is warping, so you have to push down on it to get the latches engaged. The only thing this set is missing is the adjustment wrenches. And the adjustment wrench. This tool will need qualified to your standards.I usually measure down to gage blocks,but have none on hand) Looks to be in great condition. The thimble spins and feels excellent. The ratchet stop and lock function perfectly. There are no extra markings or engravings on the micrometer. This Starrett. Model 445, 0-12 Inch Depth Mic Set is not brand new yet certainly looks it. This item operates great and requires only a roll up or down the arm in order to pare this item through its entire stroke. The beautiful wood case is 20" X 12" and is in excellent condition. The depth mic has a six(6) inch base on it. This container has an individual slot for each rod thus not requiring one depth rod to be kept inside the micrometer which only enhances rust. This item has an etching on both it and the box that corresponds to someone's control number.

Brown and Sharpe model number 599-603-148-3 is what I would say this set is. There are no markings anywhere to verify this. But its what I found in the MSC Catalog. MITUTOYO Depth Micrometer SET. The range is 0" 12" x.001" increments. Mitutoyo model# 129-150. DMC4-12" The set has a wooden case. The head is 4" long x 3/4" wide and moves smoothly. The ratchet thimble works as designed. The foam in the lid is degrading and when taken from storage. Some foam bits were stuck to some rods. We carefully cleaned it off and did NOT touch the ends which are all clean and bright. 1) rod had some rust spots from the foam and that one we had to use a soft wire wheel to clean up. Once again, the end was not touched. That rod is pictured. All the others just have some toning spots from where the foam was stuck to them. We would recommend the buyer remove the balance of the foam and use some other method when storing them. For now we have bubble wrap between the tools and the lid.
