We feel they will both still function very well Each has a number stamped into the frame’s rim. One has the number 125 and the other has number 145. To avoid confusion each micrometer will be described by their individual number. NUMBER 125: It appears that the anvil has been ground on one side. The shaft also seems modified because it has a back-cut appearance to it. I’m not sure if it came that way our remanufactured for checking purposes. The barrel turns freely but the shaft has a little up-and-down movement. It has a little rust on it but w e haven’t tried to clean it. Leaving it for someone who knows what they are doing. NUMBER 145: This micrometer has not been altered in any way. The barrel turns freely but the shaft does have a little up-and-down travel. However. It is not as much as its twin. This is a valuable tool for the machinist. Tool maker and inspector. Because of its design, it can measure areas not possible with a standard micrometer. There are 3 anvils with this micrometer. The Rod Anvil can measure tubing thickness and from a hole to an edge. The Flat Anvil can measure from a slot or a groove to an edge. The V-Anvil can measure thickness of screw heads and shoulder lengths. Anvils can be quickly changed as needed. This tool comes with an adjustment wrench, paperwork and original box, all in excellent condition. Micrometer has a ratchet and a spindle lock. It measure in.001” and has a satin chrome finish.
