This is a used motor. It has been in service at some point and also repaired at some point. It was acquired from a university. The evidence suggests they would replace bad motors with new motors and then repair the bad motors. If possible, and shelf them for the future. This motor has a tag that says it received new bearings in 2001. Whether it was ever placed in service again after 2001 is unknown. I hooked it up and ran it for 20 minutes and it worked and was reasonably quiet. I did not run it under load.
