This is a vintage Bodine gear motor. It weighs about 5 pounds! Picture 2 shows a gear ratio of 144 1/2: 1. I have been trying to research this motor to get more information on it. The box that it was shipped in had a postage date of 1945. So it seems safe to assume that this was manufactured in 1945 or earlier! I noticed another ebay listing for practically the same motor. Vintage GE 1/6HP Electric Motor 1800RPM 115V 6A 1/2" diameter shaft type SH
This is a vintage motor from a local auction. It was in the previous owner's workshop. It runs smoothly; it's not noisy; and it generates no suspicious smells when running. The cord looks like a lamp cord and isn't original, but the contacts are easily accessible on the back(see last photo) so you can put on a heavier or longer cord if you like. No brittle or bare wiring. It doesn't have. And never had, a starting capacitor, and weighs 32 pounds, which is heavy for a 1/6HP motor. It has a 1/2" diameter shaft and the shaft has a flat for a key way or a set screw. This must ship to your street address. Not a p.o. box.

General Electric type SA 1/4-hp electric motor. Frame 147. Form DB, 110 volts, 5.4 amps, 1/4 hp, 1725 rpm, 60Hz, single phase, 40-degree celsuis temperature rise, continuous time rating, number CC. Made by General Electric Co. of Schenectady, NY. 8" long, 6" diameter, 1-7/8" by 1/2" shaft. Good condition. Obvious wear from age and use. Paint loss, grime, etc. I tested this motor for about a minute. And ran pretty smoothly, with a bit of noise at startup and some hum during operation. I can't predict how long it will continue to run, though, so it might be a good idea to have it serviced if you plan to use it for anything important. The shaft has about 1/32" of end play. The feet don't sit perfectly flat, but that shouldn't be a problem once this is bolted securely to a base. Vintage Antique Century Type RS 1/6 HP Electric Motor - Working
These open frame flat(or disc) armature motors are hard to find. This unit runs and runs. Good bearings and the disc armature is clean and flat. Motors that have been run alot generally have grooves. The photos also show the motor slide which I haven't seen before. I did not attempt to clean this one up beyond getting the dust off of it. It still has most of its original paint and has not been exposed to the weather or dampness. Shipping weight is 37Lbs. On the tag: Type RS.
