Vintage steam gauge marked Lonergan Phila. It seems like the case is made of cast iron and it has a spiral copper tube attached with a valve. The face and dial are simple. It is also marked vacuum press. The zero is not centered at the top; it is slightly to the left. I don't know the significancy of this- if any- but thought I would mention it. There is light surface corrosion on the case but nothing that goes through the metal. Please view all pictures. Measures 4 3/4" diameter. This piece came from a collection found locally. Antique(late 1800s- early 1900s) leather working tool embossed"W.H. Hoover Co. New Berlin. OH" Before W.H. Hoover founded the world famous Hoover Vacuum Co. in North Canton, OH he had a successful leather business there from 1873 until 1919 when he decided to devote full efforts to the making of vacuum cleaners. Prior to 1918 North Canton, Ohio was named New Berlin(a reflection of the large population of German immigrants that had settled there) but changed it to North Canton because of the negative reputation of Germany during WW1. This cast iron tool measures 16-1/4" in full length when the handle is fully open and 11-1/4" long when the handle is closed. I do not know how this tool was actually used but the handle retracts the tooling when closing and extends it while opening. There is embossing on one side that is difficult ... moreto read but I believe it says"No.2 4 TO 5 IN" I think that this would refer to a 4 to 5 inch capacity for this tool which would make sense because there is a 5 inch opening when the tooling is retracted. I obtained this tool from the estate of a 96 year old machinest in North Canton recently and have never come across anything like it before. I had planned on starting a sublimation business on the side. But I do not have the time to really get it going like I want too. I purchased an expensive/well-worth-it machine and a bunch of accessories to go with it. And it has been sitting in my basement for months now. It is in immaculate condition. It has only been used a handful of times for testing, learning, and experimenting purposes. Overall minimal use. It is most definitely a unique machine! It's called: 3D Heat Press Vacuum Machine- ST3042. It comes with the original factory box/packaging and manuals. It's one of the few transfer machines with multifunctional capability. You can transfer/press onto: mugs. Glass, wood, t-shirts, iphone/ipad cases, galaxy cases, plates, pens, wine glasses, and so much more! I will say that running a sublimation business requires more time ... morethan I initially assumed; it is quite tedious. The great thing about this machine is that you can produce in volume! You can transfer onto 12 mugs simultaneously, create multiple shirts, transfer onto several iphone cases at one time. It is great for producing in bulk, which is the main reason I spent the extra money on it. They have tons of cheap. Basic, one-dimensional machines on the market. I wanted something much more than that and this is exactly what I have been looking for. I even went as far as purchasing an Epson XP410 Ink Jet Wifi printer that is compatible with using sublimation ink, and then purchased sublimation ink separately; so that I could create my own transfers on spot. Simply use designer software, such as Photoshop, create your design and Print your transfer! For the value, the printer gets the job done. I installed a CISS into the printer(Continuous Ink Supply System) which allows you to print in bulk without having to constantly re-fill the ink cartridges. The vacuum gauge measures 6in diameter without a makers mark. It is in working order. Although may need recalibrating,and a good suck on the inlet can get the needle to register up to 6in Hg. The Bundenberg 4in diameter pressure gauge is somewhat older than the vacuum gauge.And is the type that would have been used on the footplate to register the pressure of the steam being supplied to heat the carriages.
