This copy of the book is 64 pages. Plus covers, 10.1875" X 7.5625" Only the inside back cover is not John Hix material. And it has a wonderful ad page for the Johnson Smith& Company novelty mail order business of Detroit, Michigan. Every page of this book. Including the inside covers, is in superb color. The book as a whole seems almost Fine/VF. But perimeter problems bring it down to About VG overall. The covers have identical art. But the front cover has two areas of newsstand pencil notation, one which I think reads as 2-22. This most likely represents the date this book, or a stack of comics, was received at the original newsstand- February 22, 1937] and would be in keeping with the publishing company's timeline. The back cover does not have any surface writing[see scans] There is a ¼" tear at the open point ... moreof the front cover. A ½" split at the spine top, tiny bottom spine corner point damage, and general handling to the edges. Page 59/60 has a small but noticeable edge tear on the right. All pages have light tanning at the extremities. But it does not progress to even a half inch on the paper. The covers still exude a bit of original gloss. If I am not mistaken, and the staples have not oxidized! The top staple area has that small type of cover tearaway where it is securely holding the paper of the cover to the book. But there is a hole through the spine at the juncture where the paper gave'way next to the staple. If the book is not handled very carefully, or better yet, repaired at this spot, the tear could easily get worse and contribute to the cover fully separating from this point in the future. Here is a chance to own a very nice condition 75-year-old comic magazine from the Platinum Age. Published by the leading historical name in the founding of the American comic book industry. The squeegee printing system utilizes an imported linear bearing guide for extremely stable printing. Sensor is provided for controlling the printing stroke. There is some surface rust on the black tin cover on top because this was in a basement work area and left with drips from a water pipe. It is only cosmetic and in no way affects performance of this unit. Everything else is very clean and heats perfectly and evenly. It was hardly used and has a very clean closeto new surface heat area. If you want to save over $200 and get a great unit and can stand the surface rust spots then get this unit. Hix Presto 15, 15" heat press with heat pad and pyrometer (contact thermometer)
This has been a great heat press. Its produced a lot of mouse pads and t-shirts and continues to work well. I put a new thermostat in it which works fine but I never calibrated it. Since I kept it at the same temperature I simply used a pyrometer(included. See pic) to set the thermostat to where it needed to be and left it. It can be calibrated to match the dials I just never did. At any rate I'm including the pyrometer as well as a heat pad which is useful for pressing relatively thick and incompressible surfaces such as light-switch covers, wooden clock faces, etc. Some old metal light switch covers were placed between the rubber pad and the legs serving as risers to increase pressure for doing t-shirts but the pad is still secure and stable and these can be removed if you don't need the extra pressure. Works as it should! The B-250D is very portable making it easy to take to shows and operate. The transfer hold down blanket means transfers don't shift anymore! With a standard heat platen of 3-7/8"x 5-7/8" Place transfers easily onto hats! The B-250D cap press is a manual machine with a 3-7/8" x 5-7/8" heat platen. It features a digital timer(optional analog) that is adjustable up to 999 seconds and shows countdown on readout; then beeps after elapsed time and resets when the easy to open and close handle(with full range pressure adjustment) is raised. The calibrated digital temperature control is adjustable up to 450°F(232°C) and displays the current temperature. The innovative bottom cap hold-down stretches the cap out holding it snug to the lower(rubber covered) platen.
