Cleaned Font of 12 Point Brush (ATF #689) Vintage Letterpress Lead Metal Type
This auction is for a hand cleaned font of 12 Point Brush letterpress lead type(ATF#689) which includes Caps. Lower Case, Numbers and Punctuation, cast by American Type Founders. Type has not been used by me, and had been used only fairly lightly by the previous owner. Just about all of the font cleaned up very well. A few pieces remained dark, although I can assure they are clean. See photos for more visual information. Photo#4 is a reverse(mirror) image for ease in identifying the individual characters. Please note that I inserted a missing capital"R" in front of the lower case r's after finding it. Count should be correct. Note also that each of the script letters has a standard letter imbedded on the face corresponding to it in case of confusion in reading the typeface. Dixon mold polish for hot casting Linotype letterpress lead
A partially used can of Dixon mold polish used in our old letterpress/Linotype shop. It's fairly heavy. So I'm thinking it has quite a bit in it, but no way am I prying this lid off to find out, as I spilled some of this on a concrete floor one time and have never experienced anything so slick. A little bit goes a long way. Here is what the packaging says: To remove and prevent metal from accumulating on spacebands at casting point. At least once a week before graphiting spacebands clean the sleeve at the casting point with Dixon's Mold Polish, applied with a polishing block. Wipe clean with a cloth. This will prevent metal from accumulating and causing breaks down matrix walls, and hairlines. Star Parts, Inc. South Hackensack, New Jersey, USA. Up for auction is a lot of letterpress accessories. You will receive everything in the photos. There are two full sets of type. One is lower case, and the other is capital letters. There is also a set of numbers that includes punctuation. The type won't come organized, because I don't know how to do it. They are each separated in their box according to style. The three Wickershire Quoins are a big plus. Paper, ink, and all other items seen in the photos are included. I do not know the proper names of all of it. The type is in exceptional condition, only a few pieces have light ink on them. The photos really don't do it justice. It's a great set of letterpress accessories that anyone will enjoy.
