Calweld Crane-Mounted Drill Attachment -Drill Rig Drilling Rig -Needs Work
We are offering for sale a Calweld drill attachment that is made to be mounted onto the front of a conventional lattice boom type crane. This attachment allows you to drill large diameter holes to depths in excess of 50' deep. Depending on what type of kelly bar you are using. This machine provides the rotary torque for the auger, the crane provides the up and down motion. A long square bar(known as a kelly bar) hangs from a cable on the crane, threads through the rotary drive of this attachment then an auger is attached to the bottom of the kelly bar. This unit belonged to my Dad's deep foundation drilling company and has not been run in many years. I believe it is a model 55 which was designed to mount onto a smaller crane. The engine is an International in-line. 6-cylinder, 4-cycle diesel, which I believe is a UDH model. I am told ... morethat this engine is the same engine that was used in the International crawler tractors and International Harvester agricultural equipment of the day. The power is transmitted from the engine via a Funk Reverse-O-Matic forward-neutral-reverse shuttle unit coupled to a 4-speed remote side-shift gear box. Output from the gear box is reduced via a multi-width drive chain and sprockets to the right-angle final drive ring and pinion gear housing, which turns the yoke through which the kelly bar is threaded. This unit does have the hydraulic sliding base option, which allows for easier positioning and leveling This drill attachment was purchased by my Dad's company many years ago. They used it successfully on one job, and has been in storage since. It was a very low hour unit when they bought it, as the previous owner only used if for a few projects before they went out of the drilling business. This is a very rare early two piece set of c1890s"UNDERGROUND MINERS 8 LB. DOUBLEJACK DRILLING HAMMER& HAND DRILL" stamped"ATHA#8" The Atha Tool Co. was located in Newark. New Jersey from 1884-1913 and made Blacksmithing tools, hammers, mining tools, railroad tools and stoneworking tools, I only find"ATHA" stamped tools in early 1880s-1890s mines and this pair was found deep underground in an abandoned 1890s mine and hasn't seen light in over 120 years. These 8 lb. Doublejack Drilling Hammers are very rare and they are what the miners used to drill the dynamite holes along with the steel octagon hand drills. Doublejacking was done by two miners with one holding the drill and the other swinging the hammer. Doublejack hammers are 10 times rarer than singlejack hammers because every miner had to own his ... moreown singlejack whereas the doublejack hammers were owned by the mining company's. This hammer is 35" long with it's original hickory handle and the steel octagonl hand drill is 28" long with a flat chisel end.The original hickory handle fits tight into the head and is in excellent overall condition. This Doublejack Hammer and Drill represents the earliest tools of early 1890s underground mining. This is a x-y milling table off a MSC#64162761 Milling& Drilling Machine. This is the table only. Table measures 32" x 9 1/2" It came with the complete machine but we only used the head unit. This has never been used and has sat in storage for several years so it has some slight surface rust on the table and was dirty with dust so we pressure washed it off. Like I said it has never been used at all on sat. Buyer pays freight. This is a very old Oil Derrick Rock Drilling Cone bit that is chrome but you can see where allot of chrome has off. Especially under the tricone bit gears. Very Unique and weighs 27 pounds. It stands 9 inches tall. Awesome piece of decoration. I do not believe it will function as a bit and I know nothing else about it, if it does function I would not know how to tell. As is no returns, I will ship this with tracking and insurance.
