The Mobil Oil 1940 Ford Tow Truck Bank 2001 with Box
This is a large 1940 Ford tow truck/bank released in 2001 by Mobil Oil similar to the vehicles released by Hess. This tow truck is 9½ inches long and is 1:18 scale. It is die-cast metal construction with hard rubber tires/wheels that roll. Front hood opens to expose the motor. Inside there is a seat and steering wheel. On the rear you lift the tow truck cable storage drum to access the bank coin slot. The bumpers and wrecker lift assembly I think is plastic rest is die-cast metal. The bottom is kind of detailed and is where the key hole is located allthough the key itself is missing. The truck is in excellent condition with no dents or scratches in the metal. A fine example.The box is torn here and there but is here at least-no cardboard insert for the truck so I'll use bubblewrap inside for protection. 1935 Silver Certificate Dollar Advertising Midwest Oil Co. (Ace High & Wil-Flo)
This is a rather unusual advertising item and one that you seldom see. It is a Series 1935A Silver Certificate dollar bill wrapped in cellophane which has a printed advertisement on it from the Midwest Oil Company of Minneapolis. Minnesota, Fargo, North Dakota, and Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I don’t think that many of these would have survived since most people would take the dollar bill and spend it! The message on the wrapper says, This dollar is one of thousands spent weekly for wages throughout the Northwest by Midwest Oil Company. Build the Northwest by keeping this dollar circulating in the Northwest. The bill has minor crease in the middle as can be seen on the back side in the photos below. There is a little smudge of the ink in the“A” on Ace High but the rest is crisp and displays very well. Early Midwest Oil items are quite collectible ... moreand this would be a good addition to your display of signs and cans—you might be the only collector out there to have this item! c1900 Adv. PAPERWEIGHT - Tiona PA Oil GUSHER PHOTO !
This is an advertising paperweight for the Tiona Oil Company of Binghamton NY. Circa 1900-1910. It consists of a glass block 4 inches in length, with a photograph of a gushing oil well showing up from the bottom. The bottom is covered with a paper card that has explanatory text about the photo. According to the text on the bottom card. This gusher was created by exploding 100 quarts of nitroglycerin 800 feet below the surface. The oil field was in Warren PA. Actually, Tiona Oil Company originated in Tiona PA and had several Pennsylvania drilling locations, but this paperweight was apparently put out by their Binghamton NY headquarters. Condition of the paperweight is Very Good: clean and bright clear glass with virtually no surface scratching. Hazing, or other blemishes except for a minor circular ding on the top surface near the right edge. ... moreIt has excellent transparency and a good clear photographic image. Wasson Company which operated three gas service stations in Norfolk. Nebraska. This map folds out to about 11.5” x 9” and is contained in the original printed three panel cardstock covers that measure about 2.25”x 3.25” per panel. The front cover panel is printed: Midget Road Map Of NEBRASKA– Compliments of The W.W. Wasson Co. Norfolk, Nebraska One of the other two panels has advertising for Miller Tires and Willard Batteries and is printed“Use Wasson Gasoline. Lubricating Oils and Greases” and the other panel lists the addresses for the three Wasson service stations in Norfolk. The map itself is titled“ Midget Map Of The Best Roads Of Nebraska” and has a printed ... morelegend slowing the pole markings for several named highways in Nebraska along with a“CMC Co. logo which I think indicates this was published by the Clason Map Company. This map isn’t dated but it is a vintage original published probably in the mid 1920s. The map has a couple small spots on the right edge and some toning to the paper from age. The map was attached to the cover with a small dab of glue. The map and cover separated without damage and everything is laid back neatly together. This is a vintage original Boots and Coots Oil Well Fire Fighters hat. It appears to be from the 1980's. It's used and I have not cleaned it. Overall condition is reasonbly good but it does show some wear and the bill is a little bent off to one side. There is one small hole in the fabric off to the left of the patch as seen in photo.
