~ANTIQUE VICTORIAN 1870 LOMAX WHITE FLAME EAPG FINGER OIL KEROSENE LAMP SUN PURPLE~ Up for bid is an uncommon 1870 unmarked Lomax Early American Pressed Glass Base and an unmarked White Flame burner and Rose color acid etched White Flame Chimney. George Henry Lomax of Somerville. Massachusetts patented the oil guard lamp on September 20, 1870. The Lomax lamps feature a flange at the top of the font to prevent excess oil spilling over the outside of the lamp. Several different varieties of the Lomax lamp were produced. The company dissolved around 1910. The White Flame Light Co. Was started in the 1850s and lasted until around 1912. The lamp is 13 ¾ inches tall with the chimney and 7 inches without. The base bottom and top rim is almost 4 inches in diameter, has a threaded brass collar and is 6 inches tall. The glass does have a Purple ... moretinge to it and is stamped PAT’D Sep. 20, 1870. There are no cracks or breaks to the glass. There are Manufacturing Defects such as: air bubbles, bubble bursts, straw marks, swirl marks, high seams, and a couple of tiny flea bites and a tiny chip on the bottom of the base from breaking the piece from the mold. These were common defects from the glass making process of the era. The Brass burner has a nice aged look to it and wick adjuster moves up and down properly. The chimney is 7 ¾ inches tall, has a bottom diameter, and a 1 5/8 diameter top. The official White Flame Logo is on the chimney. There is a Pink or Red hue to the glass which is quite unusual. There are no cracks, chips, or breaks. There are a few very light surface scratches from use and slight roughness on the bottom. The lamp does glow under a black light. It is no. 630. It has some surface rust. It measures 24" tall and 17" at the base. It appears to be in original condition. A lot of times you find these stoves and they have replacement parts or have been painted over to cover up the surface rust. It was purchased from an estate and I believe it is from the original owner. It needs a good cleaning so some of the spots on the outside are dirt. There are NO areas where the rust has gone through. There are no cracks in the glass shade, and it is complete with all working parts including a wick, bail handle, hanging loop and font cap. The wick adjustment works properly, and the font cap is easily removed. The top cap shows a minor repair where two cap clips have been replaced with wire. Antique & Primitive Kerosene Oil Lamp in Gray Wall Mount & Tin Reflector
The rustic glass kerosene oil lamp. Wall mount and tin reflector is in used and fair condition for its age. The lamp needs cleaning as there is residue inside of it. The 7" reflector is bent on the upper right side and the marking in the center is not legible due to the surface rust. The lamp has a few big chips on one side(see first photo) below the wick assembly however the chips are not visible when turned to the back of the wall mount. The lamp's opening is lined with metal. The wick assembly is in working order. One of the chimney supports is loose. The wall mount has multiple scratches(see pictures) wobbles when placed on a flat surface and is about 2" when mounted to wall. Sold as is. No returns. Ships to domestic United States only. This auction is for a Antique Dietz No. 2 D-Lite Large Font Kerosene Lantern. The lantern was made in the USA. I acquired this lantern from a storage locker that I purchased. This lantern looks great but does show signs of wear. There are scuffs and scratches on this lantern. There are also several rusty areas on this lantern. The lower portion of this lantern is covered in this dry black layer but I am unsure what it is. The clear glass globe is free of any chips or cracks. The fuel/kerosene cap twists on and off with little effort. The knob that adjusts the wick and controls the size of the flame works but is a little stiff. The wick appears to be in tack. This had be hanging in the craw space for some 40+ years prior to me taking it down and raping it in paper and boxing it up. Since that day it has been sitting in our attic unopened. My father told me that his dad worked at the fire department in East Camden NJ when he was growing up their. It does not appear to ever have been used. MINIATURE KEROSENE OIL LAMP SWIRL AND FLORAL VINE P & A HORNET BURNER
I found this clear glass kerosene lamp over 35 years ago under my Oregon farmhouse which was built in 1895. I never found the shade. The burner wheel is marked P& A Hornet and the burner has what could be the original flat wick. There is some oil residue inside. I have never tried to remove the burner or use the lamp. It has been a prized decoration all these years. The base has been described by others as a beaded swirl and raised floral vine design. It measures about 3 1/2" in diameter and about 4" to the top of the brass burner. I have gently cleaned away the dust with a moistened Q-tip. But leave harsher cleaning, if desired, to the buyer.
