Vintage Rochester Brass Oil Kerosene Hurricane Lamp with Green Floral Shade
This listing is for a vintage Rochester. Brass oil lamp with light green frosted glass shade, and tall chimney. The lamp measures 11.75" to the top of the burner, 6.25" across the bottom of the base, 22.5" to the top of the chimney, and 17.5" to the top of the shade. It's marked: The Rochester Pat Jan 15, 1884 Pat Sept 14, 1886. The chimney measures 12.25" tall, 2" across the top and 2.5" across the bottom. The shade is 7.5" high, 5.25" across the top, and 9.75" across the bottom. The lamp needs a little polishing. I can't get the tank cap to turn, and I don't want to force it. One of the brackets that holds the chimney in place, has slid down into the burner area. The shade has rub marks from the bracket. No cracks or chips in the glass, no dents in the lamp. We were told that this was a Dietz lamp globe or shade yet we are somewhat skeptical. So maybe it is a globe but if so then we have no idea what lamp or lantern it came from(or how it would work since there is only one opening) If we are in error here(And I feel 60% that we are) please let us know so we can edit our listing to truly reflect what this is. No matter what we did figure that for a marked(Patented May 20 1873) item it should be worth that amount. Inside diameter is 5 1/8 in. Ouside is 5 3/8 in. Height is 3 7/8 in. It measures approximately 14 1/4" tall from the bottom of the glass font to the top of the glass chimney. The lamp measures approximately 4" high to the middle of the wick knob on the burner. The clear glass font is approximately 4 3/4" wide at the widest point. Stamped on the burner wick knob is P&A Risdon Mfg Co Made is USA Danbury. Cn. EAGLE is stamped on the top of the burner. antique handlan pennsylvania railroad kerosene brakeman's lantern. this is a great old lantern. the top of the smoke bell has the p.r.r. triangle on the top. I did my best to capture this in my pictures. the globe is clean and free from any chips or cracks. the burner is present and turns freely. the tank bottom is stamped with all the patent dates from 1913-1925. it is also free from any holes or perforations. this is on of the cleanest one's I have come across. a great old lantern it would be a wonderful addition to any collection. I will always combine shipping on multiple purchases whenever it is reasonable to do so.

The burner assemblies on these ADLAKE red lens marker lights have 1916 patent dates. The OD green paint has me thinking they may be WW I vintage clearance marker lights for military vehicles or possibly horse drawn equipment. Measuring 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" the base is solid cast iron with beautiful baked-on emerald green enamel. The entire piece is approximately 14" long. A round brass reservoir holds the kerosene and feeds it through a long brass pipe to the copper pilot in the center of the base. A wood handle in the front of the Burner controls the flame. The Cast Iron Base has the French word"Depose" in raised letters. A European term which means"Registered Maker" signifying it is copyrighted.
