You are bidding on a used US Military five gallon Gerry gas can with a 1952 date stamp. It was manufactured by G. P. F. Co. As you can see from the pictures. The can has various colors. I would guess it was likely all military green in its day, like how the bottom is still. The lid does still screw and unscrew as it should, and as shown, there is still a gasket under the lid. The can measures roughly 18-1/2" tall, 6-1/2" wide, and 14" deep and weighs just over 10 lbs. I put water in the Gerry can and it does not leak. This is a vintage jerry gas can spout. That came out of a military parts house that went as far back as the late 1940's. I am not for certain on its exact date of manufacture though fits the United Steel Manufacturing Company, USMC 5 Gal. Military Standard Gas Cans. Please note it is damaged at a portion of the coil. Broken there if opened up, flex hose is frozen in the form that it now is in. has rust holes as well in that area. Metal Gerry gas can. BLITZ dated 1985. On bottom says DOT-5L, USMC, 20-5-85. This could use a little more cleaning on the outside, some tape residue and an old white label. BUT.I think it looks better used on back of your jeep rather than a shiny perfect new one. The spout is"unusual" it is PVC of the correct large thread to go into the top of the can, on the other end someone has added a 1" rubber stopper which tightens inside the smaller PVC spout to seal it quite good.looks like anyhow. I have never had gas in it, an estate sale purchase. Inside is REALLY clean, no sludge, no dirt and is perfectly dry and clean with the flashlight. Both items were purchased at the same time. And have never used, but because of the rust on the gas can I'm not selling the gas can as new just the spout is new. The inside of the gas can has never had gas in it but the bottom is very rusty on the outside. The flex spout has never been out of the bag so its in great shape. RARE 1970's JERRY LEWIS MDA TELETHON SHELL GAS STATION 67"x43" BANNER SIGN!!!!!!
Additional Information about the item(s) up for sale: Here we have a vintage advertising banner that was on display at a Shell gas station during the time of the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy. At the time Shell advertised that for each gallon of gas sold during Labor Day Weekend 1 cent would be donated toward the Jerry Lewis charity. The banner was printed in the USA. No year is marked on the banner but I know it is from sometime in the 1970's to early 1980's as the Jerry Lewis logo on the banner is the logo that was used during the 1970's to the early 1980's. The banner has some white spotting where the yellow has worn off of the banner also has some staining from moisture and dirt/dust. I do not know the cause of the white spotting may be from sun or moisture? I took several photos and close ... moreups to show the problem areas on the banner. Please examine the photos closely. The banner measures 67" x 42-1/2" and is made of a soft plastic material material similar to a tarp only the banner has a smooth surface. This is a nice piece of history for any collection!
