Vintage Gasoline Tank Wagon Door Counter Antique Automobilia Phillips 66
This is a door counter for a bulk delivery truck from the 1920's. This counter came from the Oswald Oil Company of Longford Kansas that was established in 1923 and was the local Phillips 66 gasoline distributor. The station closed in the early 1970's after fifty years in business. This counter was mounted on the inside of the rear compartment. Gasoline was delivered to rural customers five gallons at a time carried from the bulk delivery truck to the customer's storage container. This counter is how the operator kept track of the number of trips he made delivering the fuel. The operator tripped the counter lever when he filled a delivery can. This counter is made of brass and was manufactured by the J. F. Roberts Company of REA Mo. It does still work and is all original. It is in excellent shape. We found this clock in an old garage. It was not working. Someone brush painted the back red and black. We sent this to our professional clock repairer. We had a brand new movement installed. Replaced the broken minute hand. They also sandblasted the back case and put a fresh spray of paint on it. We were very careful with the original back glass not to damage the logo. There is a break on the right hand bottom corner that was glued together at one time. This is a rare clock and is very hard to find. Up for auction is this pair of signs for Texaco Fire-Chief Gasoline. You win. You get BOTH signs. These metal signs each feature the Texaco Fire-Chief fire hat and a cute little group of dalmation puppies. Each sign measures approx. 16" wide and 12 1/2" high. Both signs have also been hung on a wall for number of years. Then taken down and stored. Rarin' To Go! does show some very minor wear on the bottom edge of the front. Nothing too terrible. But worth mentioning. I do not see any other markings or damage on the front. Very nice and clean. The back does have some scratches and part of a UPC sticker. See Pictures. Hatful Of Pep! does show some very minor wear on the upper right corner and lower left edge. Again. Nothing major, but worth mentioning. Front may have 2 or 3 VERY hard to find surface scratches.
