This map opens to 26" x 25" and has great detail on old road alignments. With cartography by Rand McNally. There are inset plans of Austin, St. Cloud, Winona, Rochester, Duluth-Superior, and Minneapolis-St. Paul. This map was published by North Star in 1971. And it is dated in the legend. The code number in the lower margin is 716726-4, and the map is in good, lightly used condition, bright and clean, with a tiny bit of wear along the lower edge, a few stray spots, and no rips or tears. Vern Oskey had formed the Oskey Bros. Petroleum Corporation was in Minnesota in 1937. And its North Star products were marketed to motorists in the North Central states. Vintage 1930's Wyandotte Shell Gasoline and Service Station With Original Box This is a Vintage 1930's Wyandotte Shell Gasoline and Service Station with original box. This gas station is all original and complete. It is in excellent condition. It has the original small Wyandotte red convertible and original green coupe; the two cars are the original correct cars for the set(See Photos) The gas pumps have the original rope and pump handles for the hose(See Photos) The oil/lube rack raises and lowers freely(See Photos) The lithograph is bright and clear; in very nice condition considering the age(See Photos) The very top roof has four decals but only three are complete(See Photos) One decal shows minor flaking and the paint on the roof seems to have slightly separated from the metal creating slight bubbling and cracking(See Photos) ... morePossibly from paint expanding due to temperature changes. Excessive cleaning to the roof could remove some of the paint. You might be able to secure the paint with a little adhesive application but you can still enjoy the display of this item without doing so. This has the original box but only has one inside end-flap on either end but the outside end-flaps are complete(See Photos) Overall the box is in good condition considering the age. This sign was carefully touched up many years ago. You can see it still displays quite well. There are multiple areas of porcelain loss where touch-up has been added. I have taken detailed photos using both flash and no flash so you can judge the piece accurately. One side has a better display and detail than the other. This sign has a couple small bullet holes from originally being shot, those areas were also touched-up which should be evident in the pictures. Publication Information and Description: This particular daily comic strip was published on September 19. 1933 and features four panels. The artwork area is approximately 20” by 6” The strip is signed“King” in the final panel and is dated"9-19" in the first panel. The strip is © 1933 by The Chicago Tribune as per the indicia in the final panel. This is NOT a copy or stat or proof. This is the original art. Drawn by Frank King. Great contrast of black and white and wonderful details by a true master of the form. Kings’s legendary feel for storytelling was married to a deft mastery of pen and ink. His technique is simply breathtaking. Strategically placed blacks frame the action and story. Just ... morebrilliant. A super early and outstanding example of King’s virtuoso writing and art. Featuring several of the key GA characters, including Skeezix Wallet, Gootch, Spud, Whimpy, Trixie, Clarence and Ramses the horse. This daily is titled“Tomatoes are ripe” in pencil to the left of the art. Skeezix and his pals have purchased a horse(really a broken down nag) Named Ramses, which Clarence(the neighborhood trouble maker) had set loose a couple of days earlier. Trixie saw him do it and he threatened her if she ratted him out. The gang, however, figured out who was to blame, and they use Spud's tomatoes to to give Clarence what he deserves(while recuing Trixie at the same time) King’s dialogue and feel for everyday conversation and life is simply dead on. His love for these characters. Really family members, pours out of every strip. Don't you love how ticked off the guys look as they confront Clarence. Trixie seems pretty pleased at her narrow escape and Clarence's comeuppance. Not surprising that King's resolved things so nicely. Vintage Gas Station five gallon gasoline can Standard Oil
Up for sale is a Progress Manufacturing five gallon gas can from the 1920's. It is in good overall condition. It came from the estate of a family that was a standard oil distributor for 63 years. As you can see in the pictures it is has no dents and no rust out. It is NOT marked"Standard Oil" anywhere that I can find but the family showed me pictures of their Standard Station. Picture number five shows the inside of the can and the attached tag(riveted to the inside of the spout) that says.five gallons when filled to point. The label that is riveted to the lid says Precision Manufacturing Arthur Illinois. This can was used to deliver bulk oil in recent years. Picture six is the underside of the lid. Unusual Photo - Red Crown Gasoline - Trucks and Drivers - 1930s-40s
This unusual photo measures(7" x 5" and pictures an old stake truck that says"Red Crown. The Gasoline of Quality" There is a truck next to it that has part of the sign- you have to put the two signs together. There are four(4) drivers with knee-high boots, and what looks like, a couple of guys from the office who are posing with the trucks. I don't know the age of this but the open cab on the truck tells me it is very old. It looks like maybe barrels of oil in the back of the truck. This photo has been in an album and has residue on all of the corners. However, the photo is in good condition with minor corner wear and no nicks or tears. The comics are tabloid sized(measuring approximately 14.75x11.4 inches) These were pulled from the Houston Post. Condition: This is a very nice set of comics. But there are a few issues to be noted as well. The following conditions ... moreare generalized for this set of comics: There are a few small tears around the edges(we have not trimmed down the margins) The edges may also be slightly rolled or have tiny pieces missing from them. The comics are browned due to age. But not brittle. There may be some slight ink transfer from other comic pages on some dates. There are some binding slits along the edge on most dates. These sometimes extend into the comics a bit. The color register is off a bit on some dates(we will note it when it looks really bad) We also made some notes of some date specific issues.
