This is a rare. Unusual Tobey antique 1892 gas meter. This is the famous"Tobey" meter, named after the inventor Henry A. Tobey of Toledo, OH in 1891. It was introduced by the Metric Metal Works and it had three diaphrams and three-part rotary valve seat in the base. There are patent drawings of this on Google-Patents. This round-body cast iron Tobey meter is about 14" in diameter and is 18" tall with the 1,000,000 cubic foot gauge attached to the top. It sits on iron legs, and is embossed on the top with the patent date, manufacturer, and the name"Tobey. It has been professionally sandblasted and painted industrial grey.
