Erzess Gear Reduction Tapping Head. Vintage Boeing Tooling
These are vintage aerospace tapping heads used by Boeing for precision work in the early 70's. There are 8 pieces all together. The model tag is in German and reads: Aufnahmekopf Type SW71 MK 2 Nr. 7155. They are mainly stainless and feature removable bearings for rebuild. There are two of the main head shown with the red Everess sticker. They use a standard#2MT Morse taper. There is one 3.5:1 reduction coupler. It includes two collet's that have F and 8.5 etched in the chuck. They are also etched 1:3 ratio. There is a 1:1 coupler and a 2:1 coupler that holds a more typical tool with a square shank. It has a teardrop shape and set screw. One aluminum spacing ring. This was part of the estate of a retired Boeing engineer. So i couldn't get any specifics on what they were used on. It slips into neutral, and then into reverse to back the tap out of the hole. It appears to be in good working condition. After all ... morethese years. Its steel body has been colored from decades of use and handling. But as near as I can tell. It seems to be functioning correctly. There should be a bar of some sort that attaches to the body of the unit to hold it still as the top and bottom shafts turn. But I have not found it. If I do find it. Syncro Tapping head
You are bidding on Syncro tapping head taken from a special purpose 5 axis CNC tapper that never went into production. If my memory is correct it is set up for 7/16 or 9/16 fine but will check, in any case you would have to purchase the gearing for the job you want. Don't know much about these heads but I know it has a ball screw and you can synchronize the feed like rigid tapping. Good luck.
