This is a wonderful antique glass paperweight used as a promotional item by Bickford& Francis of Buffalo. New York. This would have been given to customers to use on their desk as a paperweight and a reminder to order their Leather Belting and Lace Leather needs from this company. The item measures 4" x 2.5" and sits nearly a full inch up off the desk. It also weighs about 12 ounces. The piece was made by Barnes and Abrams Co in Syracuse NY who took out a patent on this design on September 5. 1882. This paperweight probably dates from around the turn of the century. A quick internet search indicates that the company might still be in business and the building in this paperweight is still standing and was up for historic preservation.
