There has been and still is a lot of controversy on just what a Lilac ... moreturkey is suppose to look like. A Lilac turkey is really just bronze based with two slate genes. Genotype of b+b+DD. A light slate colored body with a pale reddish tan tail and slate colored band ending in a creme or white tip. The red gene is not involved in this variety. The pale reddish tan tints in the tail is just the bronze gene expressing through the slate color. This is the genetic makeup of MY Lilac flocks. They WILL breed true. The other combination of popular breeding is a 3-way cross with a genotype for color of bbRrSlsl. Recessive for black. And heterozygous for red and slate. this type of breeding produces 25% Lilac, 25% are Fawn, 25% are Red Slate, and 25% are a washed out Bronze color. These birds will NOT breed true so you must be careful where the birds or eggs are purchased from. I have a flock of my own developed birds in the first description of Lilacs and also a line from Kevin Porter, a well credited turkey breeder. I've always selected for size in my breedings. My toms average 38lbs and anything that is smaller gets culled. I feel that size is often a factor that is neglected by most breeders do to the sole emphasis on keeping color. Automatic Hova Bator Egg Turner for Incuabator Chicken Duck Turkey Hatching Eggs
Up for bid is a used Hova Bator brand automatic egg turner. Saves you from having to do the tedious task of turning eggs yourself during incubation. Will fit with all Hova Bator models. Including the Genesis. I do not know if it will fit in other incubator models. It measures approximately 15"x15" I only used it a couple times and will come in the original box. The only reason I am selling it at a discounted price is that it is missing one of the rails. I still have the pin to hold the extra rail if you choose to get a replacement. The turner works just fine even without the extra rail the only change is that it holds 35 eggs rather than 41 eggs.
