HOVA BATOR 1602N Thermal Air Incubator-used-Poultry/Chicken/Duck/Goose/Turkey
I am listing several of my slightly used Poultry Incubators since I over did it and now have Chickens. Ducks and Geese literally everywhere-I really over did it, I got Hatch Happy-it was just too exciting. I bought 6 Incubators earlier this Spring and definitly do not need this many, I am only going to keep two, just in case I ever need them again but even that will be awhile. These will be slightly used, about 2 hatches each but they have been cleaned and thoroughly sanitized after each hatch. This is a Hova Bator# 1602N in the original box and instructions. The little tiny Thermometer that came with it I could not read so I bought a decent size thermometer/hygrometer[not included] at Wal-Mart in the Air Conditioning dept for about 2.99 which I just laid on the eggs and was able to see temp and humidity just by looking through the top. This ... morewas much easier than having to open it each time to see what that tiny one said and it didn't have the hygrometer on it anyway. I did not use any egg turners-I thought they were too costly and by turning all my eggs by hand several times every day was able to keep a closer eye on them and had great hatches. Be aware that all Incubators Thermostats do not behave exactly the same so always keep a very close eye on them-especially about half way through the hatch when the chicks start putting out heat on their own, you may have to adjust the temperature. I did not install a fan kit on this one, on some I did but I did not notice any difference in the hatches, they all came out about the same but I wanted to try it both ways. I was able to get about 56 Chicken Eggs in it at one time and 20+ Duck and Goose Egg combinations-just depends on how many of each you are putting in there since Goose Eggs are so big. This is a thermocouple switch for small loads like a light or small fan. It plugs into a wall outlet. Then whatever you plug into it is controlled by the temperature. Exactly what it was sold for I don't know, but it does work. It turns on when when the knob is turned past the temperature of the room.

The cardboard box and the metal holder reads: Buckeye Universal Thermometer- by the Buckeye Incubator Co. Springfield, Ohio. No date on it but you can see it is an oldie. The thermometer is attached to a metal stand that has the instructions on one side. The thermometer is glass with the mercury still inside but I don't know if it still works or not. The mercury looks settled just at the bulb area. The stand is bent somewhat forward- not sure if that is supposed to be that way or if it needs to be bent back. Because there isn't anything to make the humidity and air flow from simply blowing out the front of the fan and going directly over the water tray and sucked right back up in the back of the fan. Air flow will take the simplest route. If you know any one who has a incubator, ask them to check the temperature in the very bottom and it will almost always be anywhere from 2 to 3 degrees different. In this Incubator temperature will not be a full degree different at any time other then when the door has been open and shut of you just starting it up to hatch. Incubator has 2 fans, 42 inches of heating element. Not 19 inch like most. Its. This is an old primitive farm-made reservoir chicken coop heater. A pretty good job of craftsmanship on the 7x10 box that is 2" high. The handle sticks up another 1" on top of that. The farmer was probably tired of refilling a small'City-made' lamp and used the type of ingenuity only farmers had back then. It was soldered together and probably was in service for 50 years or so. I am offering up for sale a nice used Lyon TX-6 Incubator. I used this incubator this spring and had amazing success. I will clean and sanitize the unit so it will be ready for use when you get it. It does have a crack on the top(see pics) but it does not affect the functionality of the unit at all. This is a manual turn but the auto turner can be purchased separately through LYON. This incubator retails for $236.50 +sh! Little Giant Still Air Incubator #9200 Chicken Bird Poultry and Egg Turner
Estate Find. This is sold AS IS- no returns accepted! 9200 Still air Incubator with 6200 automatic egg turner. Qualifying statements: Case is solid- no cracks/breaks. The heater works and tested it up to about 115 degrees, the viewing glasses are missing and I tested it by laying a piece of window glass over the openings and that worked fine, the screen has some corrosion probably from using well water in the unit, there are 43 egg holders. The motor on the automatic egg turner IS SHOT- just runs hot- so if y ou want one buy it on e-bay- the eggs can be turned by moving the slide by hand on the turner. The thermometer bracket is included but the thermometer is missing- I used a regular flat thermometer to test the temperature. The original box will be used for the 9200 unit as part of the packing. ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING!

Jeffersonville Ohio chicken incubator advertising postcard Williams family 1909
Advertising postcard from the Gem Incubator Co. Trotwood, Ohio. Photo on the front shows the B.E. Williams family of Jeffersonville, Ohio, with their brood of chickens which they apparently raised in their Gem Incubator. Good condition. Message on the back(not sure what language) but no stamp or postmark. The message has a date of September 1909. Some sort of residue on bottom of card. Jeffersonville is in Fayette County between Cincinnati and Columbus not too far from Dayton and Xenia. S&H $2.50, I will ship in a stiff cardboard mailer.
