I purchased a swarm trap but it didn't work very well so I did some research on what bees ... morelook for in a new home and built some of these and they work great. Now I am having them built to sell to other Beekeepers. The trap is completely assembled. The hanger cross members are not attached so it can be shipped. It just takes 8 screws to reassemble it. The trap will hold 8 deep hive frames. If the frames have some comb on them that's better. But not necessary. Don't put frames with brood or honey in the trap. Mount the hanging bracket to a tree at least 6 feet high with 2 screws. Then set the swarm box on top and wrap the bungee cord around the trap and hanging bracket so the wind won't blow it off. Put about 3 drops of lure just inside the entrance and refresh every 7 days. When you have caught some bees. Wait until just before dark when all the bees are in the trap and close the dial entrance and tighten the wing nut. Take the bungee cord and wrap it around the trap to hold the top on while transporting it. All you have to do is take them to their new location, lift out the frames of bees and put them in their new home. Then the trap can be used again. The bees you caught made it thru the winter in your area and know how to survive. You can't buy better bees anywhere else. Always treat your bees with VARROA MITE CONTROL(sold on Ebay) as soon as you get them in a hive to keep them from spreading any deseases they might have. The VARROA MITE CONTROL will get them off to a good healthy start. Put the trap up in an area with a lot bees. I put up these swarm traps in my bee yards so I can catch the swarms from my own bees. If I take bees out of a house. I ask the owner if I could put up a swarm box so the bees won't return to the house. When I go get a swarm, I ask the landowner if I can put up a swarm box the next year. When you catch a swarm of bees you are not only a beekeeper but now are a honeybee trapper. Antique Figural Silverplate Bee Honey Pot Jar w/ Ruby Glass Body
We are pleased to offer this silverplate and ruby glass honey pot in the shape of a bee. The hinged wings open and close to reveal the honey pot in the abdomen. This piece is unsigned but it is very similar to examples made by Mappin& Webb of London. This honey pot is old and not a reproduction. The bee is very good quality. Made of brass under the silverplate. The glass honey pot unscrews from the body and it is plastered into a threaded silverplate piece. This bee shaped honey pot is fresh to the market from a fine local estate. Signature: unsigned. Numbered 156 on bottom and on the silverplate end cap on the glass body. Age: circa 1920's Condition: Very good condition. There is minor wear to the silverplate on the back of the body. The face, high points of the legs, and the hinge, and there is a 3/4" wear line near the tip ... moreof the wings. There is also wear with brass showing through on the bottoms of the feet. There is a very slight bend to the wings near the hinge and there are minor scratches from use on the silverplate. The silverplate could be polished if desired. There is one tiny bruise on the left side of the glass body which looks like a small air bubble and can bee seen with a loupe. There is no spoon. A very good quality large Victorian sterling silver bowl. It is hallmarked for Sheffield 1891 with the maker’s marks being HA for Henry Atkin. A good quality well respected firm. It has an unusual design having gadrooned sides with an embossed raised centre with flower like decoration. Its rim has been finely engraved with a honey bee which makes me suspect it may have been intended to hold honey. It is in outstanding condition being free from dings splits and repairs, the inside is faintly gilded. Beehive Jelly Jam or Honey Serving Jar JAPAN Yellow w/ Flowers Bee on Top
Here is a sweet honey server in the shape of a beehive and crowned with a bee. The piece is about 5" high and 5" across the base. It is in very nice condition with just a small place where the glaze is damaged on the rim of the base. The wings of the bee are a little rough around the edges but I am pretty sure that is original. I do not see damage. With the little oval Made in Japan labels on the underside of the base and on the lid. With the sticker still on the lid in the notch for the spoon I do not think the piece was employed at the table. Cute! Butter yellow. From a smoke free home. Container for serving honey at the dining table, measures 5" x 5" x 3" removeable lid has a bee on it, no cracks or chips, and very clean, the eyes are hand painted and one eye has missing paint. The flange includes a cut-out area for the spoon/stinger(not included) The lid comes to you in excellent used condition, with perhaps a bit of light surface wear commensurate with age and occasional use, but no discernible signs of damage like chips or fractures. Moorcroft? Honey comb bee large vase
This is out of my own personal collection. I'm not sure the maker or artist. I can not find the mark anywhere online. However it closely resembles a Moorcroft pattern they call Honey Comb. It stands 11" tall and the mouth opening is just under 3 1/2" wide. It seems to have a manufacturing flaw on one side. Which is much more rare than the usual amethyst purple. The honey box measures 5 1/2" X 5 1/2" X 6" tall. It shows absolutely no sign of wear what-so-ever! There are no chips, scratches or damage of any type. It was made by Indiana Glass, which went out of business in the 1980's, so it is becoming scarce! Thank you for looking!
