This is a 72 frame Maxant speed control honey extractor. My family has used it for year in the honey business and now we have out grown it. It is still stored inside. A.I. Root Honey Extractor Collector / Vintage 3 Frame
This is a nice three frame honey extractor made by the A.I Root Company. Except for the hole in the bottom of the tub it's in good operating condition. The spinner turns freely and has no sign of gear wear. With a little clean-up it would make a nice display piece. Or patch the tub bottom and you're ready to spin honey frames. It has a good tapper(name looks like Sarrco) Also included is a bracket and pulleys and belts that I assume must be for using a motor to drive it. But I don't know exactly how it all works. Local pickup is preferred. But I could arrange for shipping. I would have to charge $50 for packing, plus the actual shipping charge from UPS or Fedex.

This is an older but fully functional extractor. It consists of a loading conveyer with drip tray. The extractor itself and an unloading rack. The uncapper is not included. It was used extensively just last year. The pictures were taken just before the retrofitting of an air ram loader which greatly improves the machines efficiency. This vintage honey extraction barrel is in as found condition. This came from a great pre civil war farm. This is pre 1940s the owner said he bought this in the 1940s used. This honey extraction would have probably costed about $200.00- 250.00 brand new a long time ago. They still make these today and use these. You could probably make your own cap for the bottom spout. You could put a plastic cap or metal. Whatever your mind desires. I was told that this was in working condition from the owner. He was a bee farmer and used to use this a lot. Honey Extractor - Antique Cowans #17 - A.I. Root Company, 1915 - 1920
Up for auction is my Grandfather's A.I. Root Company two(2) comb honey extractor. It is a Cowan's Rapid Extractor No. 17 manufactured in Medina. Ohio USA and dates to approx. 1915- 1920. This extractor came out with his bee's and bee keeping equipment on two flat cars in the early 1920's from Racine, Wisc. to Southern Calif. It was used in his Honey Business which was sold to Miller Honey after his death in the 1950's by my Grandmother. The unit is all original and still works. Needs a good steam cleaning as it has been in a storage locker for years. It is galvanized metal with 2 handles to carry and measures 24" wide by 31-1/2" tall to to top of tub or 32" tall to top of gear housing. I doubt you've seen one of these! I purchased this extractor years ago after buying out a fellow beekeeper. I had a few hives in the backyard that were not in my commercial apiary. And the neighbor's kids liked to help me extract that honey with this hand crank model so I kept it around. They have since moved out so I don't use this anymore. You won't find many 6/3 frame extractors that will stand up to anything. The FDA compliant plastic tub can take a beating and not dent one bit. You'll see plenty of 2 frame extractors that are stainless steel for $200 dollars but they are made in China with chinese grade ultra thin stainless steel. They dent easily and will not hold together for more than 3 or so years before you need to have it repaired or replaced. Vintage Bee Farm Equipment COWANS RAPID EXTRACTOR A.I. Root Co. Honey Extractor
Here is a great barn find that needs to be in a museum. This vintage"honey extractor" has the original finish. Works great and with a little cleaning could be returned to service. The words"Cowans Rapid Extractor" can be can still be made out on the front of what I believe to be about a 30 gallon galvanized can. The top of this bee keepers equipment has a hand crank mechanism with a lever to engage two cages to spin, there by extracting honey from the comb. The shield covering the gear mechanism has the name A.I. Root Co. Medina, Ohio, USA in raised cast lettering though note that the shield has been broken and repaired with epoxy. This is a Maxant 20-Frame Radial honey extractor. It is stainless steel and runs on 110 power. It takes 20 shallow. Medium, or deep super frames. The inside surface of the drum is clean and corrosion free. This extractor is in excellent working condition(i plugged it in and ran it and it runs smooth and strong) The drivebelt is in great condition and can be replaced at any auto parts store. It comes installed with a food grade plastic valve for filling honey jars. I personally scrubbed the inside of the drum with dish soap and water, rinsed thoroughly, and air dried.
