They were imported to the US back in 2002 by Toni-Marie Astin threw help from Marc King of Italy. These are the real thing. Not the common mix bred mutts that are popping up and being called ohiki. These are direct from Toni. If they arent chances are they arent ohiki. I have worked with these for several years now and finally am to the point of where I can start letting a few go to others. Though it wont be many. I took several years to work with and fine tune my stock. The shojo color is certainly one of the rarest in the world in the ohiki, and these are some of the best examples of them anywhere in the world. My main breeding rooster is dragging the ground heavily now and the saddles he has are to die for. The ohiki is now one of Japans national tressure breeds and it is now a felony for them to export any more, making the breed even harder to find. They are a true dwarf bantam. They have extremely tiny legs, a good bird will have basically a foot on a thigh, almost no shaft. Their tails and saddles are extremely soft and thin, but they are a multiple feathered breed which makes for tons of feathering. Basically they look like dust mops when walking. They do best when kept off bare dirt due to this, it just messes up the feathering. Toni had about bred the dietary issues out of the birds, so that isnt much of a problem any more on US stock ohiki. These are a very rare find anywhere in the world, and I do prefer they go to people who will cherrish them and take good care of them. This is a vintage post card. Postally used, postmarked 1907. A CHICKEN RANCH IN CALIFORNIA CALIF CAL Card publisher E P CHARLTON. The overall condition is as seen; always check corners and edges for possible wear as grading is subjective(see scans) All postcards are standard size. Approximately 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" The Golden Age of postcards. Marked by the"divided back" began on March 1, 1907. The address had to be written on the right side of the back of the postcard while the left side was reserved for writing messages. At this time in American history the postcard hobby became a public addiction. Publishers printed millions of cards in this ... moreera. Most postcards were printed in Germany, the world leader in lithographic processes. Then at the height of this country wide mania, WWI began. It brought with it. A crash in the hobby as the supply of postcards from Germany came to an end. At this time, English and U.S. publishers seized the opportunity to fill the gap with their products, many of which were of lower quality. This coupled with the recurrent influenza epidemics, and WWI war shortages all had an adverse affect on the American postcard hobby. Then. As a last straw, the proliferation of the telephone, provided a fast, reliable means to keep in touch, at least for short distances in larger cities. The phrase, Drop me a Line" became less important and hence, it is considered that the"Golden Age of Postcards" came to an end about 1915. The postcard view is now highly sought after by many institutions(including the Smithsonian) and individuals. As it serves as a historical record of the past. Be it the view of a town main street, the local church, school, roadside attraction or the countryside, the post card mirrors the way our parents, grandparents and even we, once lived. Burlap Bag Merrimack Feed,Poultry,Livestock,Concord,NH,Native American,Indian
I bought this feed bag at a New Hampshire auction. Almost everything they sell is old and this animal feed company does not show anywhere on the internet. The company was in Concord. New Hampshire which is near the Merrimack River where the various tribes of the Pennacook Indians once thrived. The bag is most likely burlap and quite large as shown. The native American, or Indian image is superior as are the green and red dyes used for the image and lettering. The bag was for livestock and poultry feed and everything else should be legible, please ask if more information is needed. I never sold anything like this before and I would say the staining is minor. Check third photograph for most obvious.
