This auction is for French black copper marans. These birds were hatched from the Wade Jeane and Channing Grisham line and came from a NPIP flock of exhibition poultry. My marans have lightly feathered legs and their eggs are very dark. We have a ratio of 3 hens per rooster. So the fertility stays high. We have worked to get the best in color and standards. We do give our poultry vitamins and calcium, helping them produce better eggs and stronger, healthier chicks. Fertility has been tested. Produced by the same birds you will receive your eggs from. We collect the eggs several time daily to ensure freshness and vitality. My hens have been really good setters, I have had at least 10 hens hatch and raise their babies. They are excellent moms. The eggs pictured show the range of color you will likely get right now. These birds give us some very dark eggs at the height of the cycle! We are breeding for not only color of eggs but for type and feather color too and strive to meet the French Standard for French Black Copper Marans. Our birds have the lovely copper color on their necks and nicely feathered legs. I do want to make sure you know that occasionally. When dealing with genetics, a clean legged chick can surface. There are other hidden genes that can surface, for instance a white feather, that our breeders do not have but that we have seen pop up in chicks occasionally. The white feathers always disappear after the first molt. I am very proud of our breeders and the fantastic copper color they show and the dark eggs they produce!
