This is an amazing Sharples Cream Separator sign that says Sharples Suction Feed Separator Skims Clean At Any Speed. It is very EARLY and is an awesome Tin Litho Dairy related Sign. Measures just a bit over 19 x 13.5 inches. The condition is presentable but does have some problems. Most of the sign is pretty close to mint on the surface. However. As you can see the entire sign is not mint. There is some of the wavy residue lines that usually come from the paper that was placed between signs like this when they were shipped in a box or crate. There is a rub line that you can see going through the R in SEPARATOR. There are also some light bends in the metal mostly on the right edge area. The white spot is something that I studied quite a bit and cannot say affirmatively if it is all paper or if the paper has been totally removed and kind of ... morebleached out the litho. There definately feels like there is some paper on the sign in the white spot. However, I am asking anyone that bids on this piece to assume that the spot is a total loss of lihto. Therefore, if it is not and some paper comes off leaving less of a white space, then you can be happy. I kept meaning to have this sign professionally restored. But I procrastinated long enough for my restoration person to retire. So now I am letting it go as found, barn fresh and awesome. There is some light rust on the back, nothing that appears to be eating through and the edges are nice and clean, with no rot of any kind. This Rare Cur Best Farm Master Gravity Cream Separator is a Fantastic Find. I'm not a collector and I don't know anything about them so I don't know if it is all there. Missing anything or works. I do know these were patented in October, 1890, and sold through the Sears Catalogue until 1952. This one is made of tin/metal with wooden legs. There is a screen on top, and a wing nut type valve spout at the bottom. Stands approximately 43" tall, is 13" diameter at the top and 16" wide between legs. VINTAGE MATCH HOLDER& SAFE. A Lithograph Advertising TIN- THE"DE LAVAL" CREAM SEPARATOR. Match holder was patented July 28. 1908. The matches would be stored in the lower bucket(lower bucket was often used to strike the match on) and the upper bowl/bucket is where the burnt match would be placed keeping it safe from starting a fire. This is why it is called a"Match Holder& Safe" The De Laval company had been making Cream Separators since 1878 and was one of the largest(if not the largest) manufacturers of cream separators. Near the bottom of the advertising piece De Laval boasts that they have 1.000,000 of their Cream Separators in use by Farmers and others at that time. This helps date this piece to the early 1900s- as they sold more cream separators. They would change the number on the match holder to reflect"updated" ... morestatistics 1,500,000 1,700,000 and so on. I have never seen one with a lower number than 1.000,000. Since these had a practical use(not decoration) and were often hung in kitchens. Barns, milk houses and received heavy use it is hard to find one in this good a condition. Milk Cream Separator, manual, hand crank, 50L / hour
Hand crank cream seperator from Ukraine. I bought it awhile ago. Works fine with a strong arm! I sold my goats, and so too the separator. May be a touch of rust. It'll scrub off easy. Comes with instructions in(not english) Wrench, allen key, mounting screws. OK so here is my version of instructions: as best I remember) Add oil to crank case before use! Add clean motor oil(what I used) or 3in1 or similar(machine oil) Enough to keep everything lubed without overflowing the case. ~ 1pint should do it. ASSEMBLY: From the ground up: The base- crank case On the spindle pointing up from the case goes the"separating assembly" made of metal) The spindle is slotted and the assembly mates into it. Over the seperating assembly go the 2 funnel/spouts. Larger'hole in the middle' goes under the smaller'hole in the middle' ... moreOn top of those go a part that looks like a flat cup on a stand with a little hole in the center. In the cup goes a hollow plastic disk. The large bowl goes on top of it all. Finally. The"gate" fits in the hole in the bowl. Turn the gate 1/4 turn to let milk flowing or stopped(you can see where the holes line up) As for the seperating assembly: its already together- take it apart mindfully so you can easily reassemble) There is a nut on top of the cone with 2 holes for the wrench to fit. Snug but don't crank on it! When you open it. There is: Base with a pipe sprouting out it. Rubber O-ring fits in the base of the base. A plastic sleeve to go on the pipe. Mate the hole in the sleeve with the peg on the base. Cones go on next. 2 kinds smooth and dimple. Start with dimple. Then smooth, etc. End with dimple. Cones only go on the sleeve in one orientation. Then goes the plastic top cone. There is a little screw in it. This is adjusted with the allen wrench. I forget which way is what but the screw adjusts the cream"thickness" So if cream is watery adjust one way. If milk still has cream in it, adjust the other way. Here is Antique 1900 Cast Iron Fagile Dairy Farm Hand Crank Cream Separator Tester with its original 12 Cups. The lid of the unit is embossed Fagile 80 Turns Crank Per Min. Pat Apr 10, 1900. It is in Good antique condition. There are no cracks or holes to the cast iron shell unit. The outside of the unit looks very good. The inside does have patina and some rust. I did not clean the unit. It will need a good cleaning(I didn't want to damage the patina) The hand crank works and moves freely. It does come with all twelve cups. But several of the cups need to be re-handled. The unit weighs approximately 52 lbs and is set for local pick-up only. Due to its weigh and size. The obverse shows a man riding a winged woman holding a flamed torch. The original medal was awarded to VT Farm Machinery of Bellows. Original Newspaper Printer's Block L etterpress. McCormick-Deering Primrose Cream Separator Taking pictures of this block was tough. It has ink in the background and with a digital camera I was getting lots of"noise" I finally got a picture so you can make out the image; the block looks better in person. I also took some macro shots of different sections and they came out relatively clear. The separator is in the middle of the ad and there are pastured cows to the left and right. At first I thought it was for a DeLaval cream separator and after lots of squinting I could make out the words McCormick Deering Primrose. It looks like a Primrose Model 5; which means this block could be from the 1920's. The block has some great"patina" The back of the block has the words"J. H.
