The average weight of roosters is 11 pounds where the hen’s average weight is 8.5 pounds. They lay an average of 140 tinted eggs annually. Brahmas are calm. Friendly birds that make good pets. They are a popular choice for families with children. They have been very easy to raise and make a rather quiet and beautiful flock. The distinct difference between the well know Light and Dark Brahmas and these are their beautiful feather plumage. Our flock consists of Buff Laced. Gold Laced and Blue Laced Gold Brahmas. The reason for our decision to cross the different color varieties did not come easily. The Buff Laced Brahma would have to be our favorite color and the one that Dan Powell was aiming for when he started this project, but after careful research, we discovered that in this stage of the project, breeding only Buff Laced Brahmas would result in 80% Buff Laced Brahmas and 20% Gold Laced Brahmas. Over 90% of our bantam phoenix stock is directly from my dear friend Toni-Marie Astin's stock which is not related to any US lines. All varieties have been made from imported German lines of phoenix. The rest is Cy Hyde lines. Both are pretty much the top of the mark when it comes to anything long tailed. Our bantams average a tail of 2-5 foot with saddles about 18-24 inches on most. We keep all our birds in breeding pens by color, but due to this the tails often get broken up and dont get to show their true potential. This is an assortment auction from any of the colors we have. And 7 3/4 inches from the tip of the spout to the outer edge of the handle. Bottom is marked Country Road 1979 Enesco Made in Japan, and Made in Japan is stamped into the pottery on the bottom. In good condition with light wear, no chips or cracks. Some of the dark specks in the finish stand out from the surface, giving a light textured surface. Malicorne Wall Pocket- Bretonne with Basket of Chickens Here's a faience piece with an unusual scene. It shows a Bretonne with a basket of chickens over her arm and another chicken in her right hand. There is so much wonderful detail- the basket looks real. The Bretonne is wearing striped socks, you can almost hear that last chicken squawking. The wall pocket is 10 1/2" long with a rick rack upper rim and rick rack trim painted on the seam. There is a hole at the top. To make it easy to hang, surrounded by a two toned fleur de lys. The wall pocket is in good condition. With 4 chips on the upper rick rack, and a spot missed with the glaze on the cobalt of the fleur de lys. It's signed PBx, which should date it to the 19th century, and there is the expected crazing. If you buy more than one item. I am happy to combine them to save ... moreon postage. VINTAGE LEFTON CERAMIC CHICKENS, HEN & ROOSTER
Lefton China had a very successful series of hens& roosters. In tableware. There is a more stylized version that's not too hard to find, but this more realistic version is seldom seen these days. It's also unusual to find both the hen& the rooster together in this style. Lefton doesn’t seem to have specified what these are for. Could be used as teabag holders. Candy or nut bowls, or anything else that comes to your mind. They measure about 4 x 4 inches. And the hen still has her Lefton sticker. These pieces have good detail to the faces. And they’re in excellent condition– perfect, as far as I can see. There are no chips. Cracks, repairs, etc. And the white marks on the rooster's head are just reflections.
