Rare 1890-1900 Antique Tin Litho Toy Easter Eggs, Chickens, Easter Bunny. NR
No reserve for these two somewhat rare antique tin Easter eggs with original lithographed decoration. No maker's marks found. Guaranteed antique circa 1890s-early1900s. One egg features a whimsical scene of the Easter Bunny walking behind a chicken, bunny holding the reins attached to the chicken and a whip. A row of stars and leaves around the perimeter of the top half and a blue bow complete the decoration. The other egg shows a little girl feeding three chickens against a brilliant red ground on the top half and sculpted gold border, bright gold on the lower half. Condition: no chips, cracks, or repairs to the metal shells, slight dent(virtually unnoticeable) on the side of the bunny one. As far as the painted surfaces. Please see photos. These eggs have obviously been handled over the 100-125 years, so there is wear. Hummel picture girl chickens rooster framed in goldtone
Up for consideration is this lovely vintage decorative wall hanging picture that is marked"Hummel" at the bottom right of the front of the picture. It is of a little girl with a babushka(scarf) on her head and she is feeding a peep young chick while standing by a fence. There is a rooster and hen plus another peep chick standing at the front of the young girl. This picture is stamped marked"Germany" on the back of it and includes an emblem which is also stamped on the back. It has a bronze gold colored frame that appears to be made of wood and this picture wall hanging is a wonderful example of Hummel artwork that many like to collect or just have for a decoration in a child's room or other area of one's home. It appears to have quite a bit of age to it but is in really nice condition. The frame has the original ... moretiny nails that were used to fasten the picture frame together. It could be glued or taped back on. This egg made me realize why I often thought I found two tops to paper mache eggs when in fact both halves of a vintage paper mache egg like this one are the same design and same diameter! Including hen and chicks, stonecrop and liveforever, which is a direct translation of the Latin name. All species of sempervivum are small, low-growing succulent plants with a rosette form and spreading growth habit. Although most sempervivums are commonly cultivated using vegetative propagation methods such as division, they also grow reliably from seeds if they are exposed to very warm, bright conditions and kept moderately moist. Sempervivum seedlings are very susceptible to a fungal infection called damping-off, but this is easily avoided by not overwatering. Instructions 1.Fill a seedling tray with a well-draining growing mixture comprised of 2 parts coarse sand and 1 part perlite. ... moreLeave the top 1/4 inch of the seedling tray empty. 2.Sprinkle sempervivum seeds across the surface of the soil. Distribute the seeds so that only one or two land on each square inch of the growing medium. 3.Spread a very scant layer of fine sand over the sempervivum seeds to help hold in moisture while still allowing light to reach them. 4.Mist the sempervivum seeds heavily after sowing them. Spritz the surface of the soil until the top 1/2 inch feels moderately moist. THIS ITEM IS-this is an early piece of transferware(note the spellings) Transferware is a style of ceramics including pottery. Dinnerware, and other delicate items. It uses transfer printing, a decorative technique which was developed in England in the mid-18th century, particularly around the Staffordshire region. The process starts with an engraved copper plate similar to those used for making paper engravings. The plate is used to print the pattern on tissue paper. Then the tissue paper transfers ... morethe wet ink to the ceramic surface. The ceramic is then fired in a low temperature kiln to fix the pattern. This can be done over or under the glaze, but the underprinting method is more durable. The process produces fine lines similar to the engraved prints in old books.
