The bowl is approx 5 1/2" across and approx 3" tall from bottom to top of center. Clear glass with a trough on one side to channel the water into the drinking area. It was designed so a mason jar could rest on the ledge and the trough on the side lets water seep into the drinking area until the upside down jar is empty. You can see how the glass bottom has hard water stains and one significant chip I have included a mason jar. The jar is NOT a collectible jar. Estate find I am offering for sale this nice vintage Chicken/Turkey Waterer/ Feeder. The base is unmarked but is a beautiful swirl of colors ranging from browns and tans to blues. Creams, and whites. It reminds me of bakelite coloration but I believe it is plastic. The top/jar is glass and is made by The National Ideal Co. of Toledo OH I will describe each piece separately: The base has a crack near the water/feed outlet due to someone previously over tightening the top. The crack should be able to be repaired as I have repaired other waterers that I use regularly. But I will leave that up to the buyer. The top/ jar is embossed Premier Chick Fount National Ideal Toledo Ohio in a circle formation. Vintage Stoneware Chicken Waterer Poultry Farm Crock Feeder Ceramic crock
I found this at a barn sale about 15 years ago and love displaying it. But some of my grandchildren live here now and I fear for its safety. There is one small chip on the ledge part. But it it scarcely noticeable and probably happened years ago. There is also a flaw in the back, dating to its manufacturer. Inside the top is a place where the clay separated during firing. But it doesn't affect the sturdiness of the crock. It was sold with a ceramic pie plate, that substitutes for any original crockery dish. There are no markings on the feeder. I love having folks guess what it is. Even my mother, who raised chickens as a girl, couldn't place it. I hope it finds a good home. It weighs 4 pounds, 12 1/2 ounces.

Early Primitive Folk Art Pottery Stoneware Chicken Waterer Feeder/Yellow Ware
Up for sale is an early piece of pottery. Found in Alabama. It is unglazed and appears to be a piece of yellow ware. I've been told this is the top of a chicken waterer but I guess it could be a bee hive cover too. It is 10 1/4" tall and 6 7/8" at its widest point. It is in pretty good condition considering its age and the amount of use. There are two firing cracks on the top and one other hairline. None go all the way through. Antique Glass Chicken Waterer, Antique Glass Poultry Fountain. Dated 1913.
Up for auction is this unusual and very rare antique Chicken/Poultry Waterer. While I am not positive how it worked. It appears that you would hang it, and the chickens would peck at the stem releasing drops of water. I hanger still swings, although it is rather stiff as you try to get it straight up. The screw on top doesn't come off(it's rusted on) but the stem is still very moveable, and you can actually press it in a little and let water flow in. It's POSSIBLE, that with some WD-40 the top could be loosened enough to unscrew. I did not try this, and leave it to the new owner. The metal strap around it is rusted(iron? I think it's complete. Antique Chicken Waterer Primitive Crockery 3 gallon
This is a very old brown crockery chicken waterer. This glaze. I believe dates it from between 1880- 1920. There is not a potter mark that I can find. It's 16" tall and 9" in wide. At first looks like a big brown jug. There is a small round hole near the bottom. To allow the water to come out, it's about the size of a half dollar. It would have had a large crockery tray with a lip underneath. To hold the water. I've seen this brown glaze referred to as"brown drip" as well as"Albany slip. There are some firing marks around it. That may look like chips in the pictures, they are not. There are some small glaze chips at the bottom. From chicken beaks probably. Up for sale is this quart waterer for baby chicks/poultry. It is the actual item shown in the picture. It has a white poly mason type jar top and a red poly base. It holds 1 quart of water. Screws together. marked on the bottom with National-Ideal Premier Chick Fount Toledo Ohio. glass top measures 9" tall and 5" round at the screw in end, and 5 3/4" at the other end. the tin base measures 8" round and 1 1/2" tall, the rim- or part that holds the water is 1 1/8" round at the top of it. needs overall cleaning. this would look awesome cleaned up with candy or some kind of decoration in it. screws on hard- and i didn't want to force it so didn't screw it on all the way. heavy- weighs over 3 1/2 pounds. It is 9 3/4" tall and 7" in diameter. The GLASS BOTTOM is 9" in diameter. There is a chip on the second inner ring and what looks like a crack directly across from the chip; however it can only be felt on the bottom.
