1924 New Haven Mahogany 8 Day Westminster Chime(4/4) Mantel Clock. Case has been restored. Nice 18 coat semi gloss lacquer finish applied over several weeks and sanded in between coats. Brass has been polished. Door is tight and glass is nice- thick beveled convex crystal. Movement was serviced and lubricated- works well, keeps good time. the chime is finicky sometimes but always clears itself, I think it just needs exercise, lol. Case and finish are super pretty but not perfect, just really close. All measurements are shown in the pictures. This is a big heavy solid clock with a very serene and full bodied chiming set. I really don't deal with jugs a whole lot. But this one really caught my eye. It really has that beehive shape to it. Especially since the bottom narrows down just like the top does. Most times it is just the top. There are two things that I will mention about it and you can decide for yourself with the pictures. Towards the bottom below the handle is a small dime sized piece that is chipped off a little. It does not go through and is just on the surface. But is there just the same and needs to be mentioned. The other one is on the handle where the thumb is placed. It is a different color than the rest. I am not sure if this was made like this to give the thumb a not so smooth surface for gripping possibly. It looks to have been made like this from the factory because the color closest to the spout bleeds over onto the lighter colored part. Regardless. This is an absolutely beautiful 12 place setting in the Love Story by Arnart. You get 12 Dinner Plates. 12 Luncheon or Salad Plates, and 12 Cups with saucers with stunning Teapot. Also includes an oval celery or olive dish. All pieces are done with the Fragnard's couple in the center and 12 courtship scenes around the edges. The centers are a very pretty and subtle blue which only adds to the beauty of this set. All pieces are is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks, and are free or surface wear or scratches. The gold is exquisite, doesn't look like the set was ever used. The bottom of the teapot has a tiny flake on the bottom edge as shown in the last picture. The cups and saucers are all marked with the gold beehive and 5391, the cups measure approx. 2 5/8" tall and 4 3/4" wide w/ handle, the saucers measure ... more5 5/8" wide. This piece is plated with the bumble bee being mixed metals of brass and copper as well as the plated silver. Sorry no spoon but any will do: There are a few small flaws from age on the lid only-nothing major at all I have shown a photo. Antique pair of hand painted floral jars Royal Vienna style beehive shield mark
This pair of jars is each 10 inches high and 5 ¾ inches in diameter at the widest point. The jars are excellent quality and are quite similar to the floral pattern of porcelain made by Meissen. The jars have a small beehive or shield mark on the bottom quite similar to that used by Royal Vienna. As the mark was copied by many companies. We do not know the manufacturer of these. We believe they were made in either Germany or Austria and date to the early 20 th century. They are in excellent condition with no chips. Antique Bohemian Friedrich Simon portrait tea set 22 pieces beehive shield mark
This wonderful tea service is light blue and each piece. Except the saucers, has a classical scene. Included in the set are a teapot, creamer, sugar bowl, 10 cups and 9 saucers. All pieces have a beehive mark. It looks like the mark used by Friedrich Simon, a Bohemian decorator around 1900. The beehive marks are quite similar though and this could have been from another Austrian or Czechoslovakian maker. The teapot is 6 ½ inches high including the lid and 8 ¼ inches across including the spout and handle. The creamer is 4 5/8 inches tall and the sugar bowl is 3 ¾ inches high and 4 ¾ inches across including the handles. The cups are 2 ½ inches tall and 3 ½ inches in diameter. The saucers are 5 ¾ inches in diameter. The set has no chips, cracks or repairs. The cobalt blue is in great condition. There is a little glaze that dripped I beleive. It was done when it was made. This has been near Ky. for some time. It belonged to a 77 year old lady lately. Rare Antique 2 Gal Hayner Distilling Beehive Whiskey Jug 1800's Springfield Oh
This is a very rare antique 2 gallon salt glaze Hayner Distillery pottery jug from sometime between 1866 to before the turn of the century. The company was based in Springfield Ohio at the time. Measures 12 inches high and 9 inches in diameter. Very heavy weighing exactly 11 pounds. There are no chips anywhere on the jug but there is a very nice hairline crack from top to bottom on this as seen in the pics. I figure since the jug is very heavy it was probably leaned against a table or something to make it easier to pour from creating the hairline over the years. Even with the hairline it is still very solid. Lettering is done in a blue color. There is a# 2 etched into the neck to show capacity. I turned this jug over and some sort of black liquid spilled out all over me so I rinsed it out with soapy water but there may be more of this substance ... morein it yet. Not sure. The fixture came out of The Hamrick Theater in Gaffney. SC, which opened in 1930 and closed in 1968. This is a 19 th to very early 20 th CENTURY OVOID SALT GLAZE STONEWARE JUG with COBALT MOTIF. VERY LARGE VINTAGE STONEWARE JUG with the letter“H“ mark. The JUG is called a“BEEHIVE” style and the motif on the front of the jug is supposed to be a bee. It is Pennsylvania-New York Stoneware. 1850-1880, but it could be from several makers. It is likely a batch firing sequence used by the potter, they generally used a letter instead of numbers on limited runs, meaning the piece is hand painted. Stoneware like that is fired to a VERY high temperature(about 2300 degrees F) and about 1720, American potters began producing a form of stoneware developed in many Europe centuries earlier-stoneware glazed with salt and decorated with cobalt blue that is signed“H“ with a Beautiful Symbol painted in Blue. It could be used as a trinket or jewelry box. The box has a figural scene on the lid against a chocolate brown background. Gold gilding work surrounds the border of the lid as well as the base. Please ignore the glare on the photos and my inability to properly capture the true beauty and quality of this porcelain box. The dark brown color is very hard to photograph without adequate lighting. The most beautiful aspect of the piece is the lovely Napoleonic scene inside the base(photo#1) The scene depicts Napoleon on his horse in battle. The intricate scene is set in the center of the base and surrounded by more gold gilding with the same chocolate brown background found ... moreon the exterior. VICTORIAN MADAME LEBRUN CHILD BEEHIVE ROYAL VIENNA PORTRAIT PLATE SHADOW BOX WOW
This is an old antique 19th Century Victorian era shadow fox frame with its original stunning porcelain plate with the blue beehive mark and a Mother and daughter portrait. This is fresh off the wall of the parlour of a well decorated Victorian grand home in KC. It was stunning in that room that also had a grand piano. The shadow box frame is 16" by 16" by 2 1/2" The black shadow box has a little wear to the black patina on left lower corner that would be easy to touch up or ignore. The inner gold gilt frame is stunning and in wonderful condition. The glass is original with waves you all love. I opened it up to check out the plate and seen it has a 1 1/4" hairline on the rim on the back. See photo 11 and 12. It looks like the nail could of done this decades ago. I did not remove the plate. The front seen through the glass ... morelooks to be in excellent condition. Since the plate has a hairline I would say the main value is in the shadow box frame.
