This is a 19th to very early 20th CENTURY OVOID SALT GLAZE STONEWARE JUG with COBALT MOTIF. VERY LARGE VINTAGE STONEWARE JUG. VERY UNUSUAL TO HAVE THE ORIGINAL CORK(wood stopper) The JUG is called a“BEEHIVE” style and the motif on the front of the jug is supposed to be a bee. It is Pennsylvania-New York Stoneware. 1850-1880, but it could be from several makers. the piece is hand painted. Stoneware like that is fired to a VERY high temperature(about 2300 degrees F) and about 1720, American potters began producing a form of stoneware developed in many Europe centuries earlier-stoneware glazed with salt and decorated with cobalt blue with a Beautiful Symbol painted in Blue. Salt glazed stoneware like this was very common in the 19th-Century America and potters produced it all over the country, sometimes stamping it with their maker’s marks- ... morebut most of the time, they did not put on an actual name-like this one. This antique lapel pin recently was purchased at a local estate sale. Its design has a beehive in the center against a map of the world. At the top is a cross and crown resembling that of Knights Templar. And the letters representing the organization Ladies of the Maccabees of the World(LOTM) are on a red banner extending across the front of the pin. This organization was organized in the 1880's and was merged with the Knights of the Maccabbees in the early to mid-1920's; therefore, this item must date to this span of time- and it appears to date to the late 1800's or very early 1900's. Measuring approximately 5/8" in diameter, the pin appears to be celluloid and has a straight attachment pin on the reverse. This 8 day key wind clock is a beautiful cherry color made by seth Thomas USA. Perfect for the mantle or shelf, made from adamantine to look like wood grain surface. This clock has been cleaned ane oiled and rebushed, will run another 100 yrs. The dark wood rounded top cabinet with its’ attached inlaid wood strip is in relatively good condition. It does have a couple small indentations/ gouge and surface scratches. It measures 10 ¼” tall x 8 ¾” W x 5 ¼”D. Please take a good look at the pictures. There is a little wear to the face and the sill of the door looks like weathered…paint. Comes with a 2-sided key and pendulum. The pendulum is gold on one side and iron on the other. The clock movement is marked with the“ST” trademark and“89AL” There is a coil& gong. It chimes on the hour and the ½ hour. Mechanics: Right off the shelf. This clock is up and running well. Prior to listing. Ingrahams Company was then started and ran from 1852 to 1856; and then Elias Ingraham and Company from 1857 to 1860. Then from 1861 to 1880 the name E. Ingraham& Company was used. from 1881 to 1884, the company was know as The E. Ingraham& Company. Finally in 1885 it was incorporated as The E. Ingraham Company. This well-documented history and short time periods for each company make it easy to date the early Ingraham clocks based upon the label. Beautiful. Very large beehive shaped stoneware jug with one drip of glaze, also called a"turkey dropping" This large jug is in near perfect condition and weighs a whopping 10lbs! Interesting writing on the bottom says"Art Gabel, Faler Farmhouse South of town- Connely Mont. 1941 Aug" Jug measures 11" tall x 9.5" wide at bottom and 31" in circumference.
