Vintage Strapping Crank Lawco LTD Made In United Kingdom Heavy duty Rare Item
I am not sure exactly what sort of strapping crank this is. I do know it is super heavy duty and it is in excellent used condition. When you crank the handle. It sound real nice. In other words, it sound like it is not stripped at all and the teeth on it are in great shape. It is a extremely well made, and I am sure rare tool. I picked it up at an estate sale. I like it because of the quality impression I get picking it up and playing round with it. I thought somebody might have a use for it. I have to sell it"as is" due to its age. I do not know how old it is. I think some sort of shipping industry person will have a use for it. I did a little research on it, but found only a little comparison. Bunn 16" twine arm - obsolete / used
You are viewing a twine arm for a Bunn 16" tying machine. The factory considers these obsolete but we have tons of them. Most of them have been repaired at some point in their lives but all came off of working machines and in many cases. The repair is undetectable and is very durable. We used to take the hub and send it to Chicago and they would remove the broken arm portion and braze in a new outer arm portion. This used to cost more than what I am asking for this unit. The dimensions are as follows; A) from the outside of the curve to the end of the tip = 9.5" B) from the outside of the curve to the first portion of the sprocket off of the shaft = 11" 11-3/8" to the shaft C) along the shaft to the spot where the swing table inserts = 7.5" D) the diameter of the shaft = 3/4" The diameter of the sprocket is 2" ... morefrom the inside of the teeth(down in the valleys) and 2-5/8" from the tip of the teeth to the other tip(outer diameter) There are 15 teeth on the sprocket. Bunn knotter body with gear for light twine and poly tape (used, grade "B")
You are viewing a Bunn knotter body with gear for light twine(6. 8, or 12 ply) or poly tape(F-24 or D-28) This knotter body is the older type utilizing the taper pin rather than the roll pin on the newer pieces. This unit is graded as an"B" and has slight wear on the roller that activates the jaw. This usually does not impact performance or the life of the part but I can not honestly group it with one I have graded as"A" All Bunn parts will fit across the product line. No matter the age. These older parts were made back when the U.S. did not incorporate as much recycled metal in the"mix" and that usually means a stronger part. A Bunn part could be from the 30's and they can still be used in a brand new tyer. My experience with the older knotter bodies is that the new knotter head assemblies are a bit longer(where ... morethe shaft fits through) and I will need to give it a few swipes with a file. My indicator that this needs to be done is that when I tap in the taper pin at the gear. The hole is lightly off center drawing the gear too hard against the casting causing the knotter body to bind up. If I shave off a little of the casting, it fits like butter. A little known tip. The Bunn knotter body will fit in a Japanese Ty-Tech casting. The roller needs to be bent up a bit(GENTLY! for the knotter lever to properly close the jaws. The Ty-Tech gear needs to be used and that means drilling out the hole in both the gear and the body shaft to accept a slightly larger roll pin and get rid of the tapered hole(not required if you have a new version of the knotter body without the tapered hole) It's a bit of work but worth it because a used Bunn replacement is about 25% of the price of a new Ty-Tech replacement. You are viewing an extremely nice example of a Mosca TR3-C with a special high-speed motor upgrade. This unit has the 900mm x 650mm(36" x 25.5" tall) arch and a compression unit and is set for 5mm strapping. The high speed sealer motor makes this machine cycle about as fast as a new TR5-C. The following has been performed on this unit. 1) All scuffs and scratches were sanded to bare metal. Primed with epoxy primer and covered in a factory-matching enamel 2) All worn or damaged parts were replaced 3) A new track and conveyor drive belt was installed(both wearable parts. Good to have replaced) 4) A full PM was performed on the sealing head(disassembled. Cleaned w/ solvent, lubed and reassembled) 5) Price includes the base TR3-C high-speed unit. This is a vintage tool and seems like working ok. I have not used the tool and do not have any steel belts to test it. I bought it because I like the vintage quality of this tool and for great admiration for American inventions/designs. I have included many pictures to show various parts of the strapping tool. I can probably send more pictures if you want to see any more parts in particular. It does not look like that anything is broken off. The Number C1204C is steel stamped on the case.
