In 2001 to 2002 I worked as an intern at the Marvel Comics Manhattan offices. Then CEO Avi Arad was stepping down and now Marvel was in the movie business. These Gigantic prints hung(they are simply towering and overwhelming when you see them in person) in the hallowed hallways up until. The offices were going to get a face lift. I had seen these pieces of art everyday when I walked in and have sentimental value with my time at Marvel Comics. These beauties were about to be destroyed, I begged my boss to have them, he said after Comic-con. So Comic-con NY came and went. I transported these one of a kind pieces of art back here to my Long Island home. I love these pieces, I would have liked to hold onto them, however I am moving into a new townhouse with my new fiance' We are just starting out and will use the money for necessities such ... moreas furniture, a bedroom set and TV I would love to keep these and give them to my kids one day. Here we have a lovely Mt. Washington Light Blue Cased White Opalescent fruit bowl in excellent condition. This large fruit bowl measures 10" in diameter by 4.5" high and is free of chips. Cracks, cloudiness, scratches or stains and looks unused. While some may think of this as a bowl for a bride's basket, Mt. Washington used the term"fruit bowl" for this type of bowl even when sold with a Pairpoint silver plated stand or holder. Stands were designed to hold a single or pair of matching bowls. Since this bowl was found without a stand, it very well may be looking for it's twin in need of a matching bowl. The slightly raised foot measures just under 4.5" in diameter and has a concave ground pontil in the center. The distinctive crimped edge pattern can be seen on several of the fruit bowls in the Mt.
