This swing stool would be perfect for mounting to a drafting table. Desk, booth, or wall. The stool has a cast iron base marked"S-814" on the frame and"I" in another area. The stool extends about 19.5" from the wall and the seat is 12" around. The bracket that mounts to the wall is 10" tall and a little under 1.5" wide. The bracket allows the arm to swing around horizontally to the desired position. The mounting holes in the bracket are 7/16" and spaced 8 3/4" apart on center. Listing is for a vintage industrial drafting or task stool or office chair. It is in exceptional good condition considering its age. The seat is faux leather and the legs are chrome. The chair seat swivels and the back is also fully adjustable. The chair back adjusts by 3 inches from 11 inches tall to 14 inches tall and also adjusts front to back. The seat height is 24 1/2. The distance between the feet is approximately 15 1/2 inches and the diameter of the foot rest is 16 inches. Chair is sturdy and weighs 24 lbs without the box. Seat measures approximately 17 inches side to side by 16 inches front to back. The chair has stationary feet(no wheels) Will ship partially disassembled in order to be able to ship to your door. These chairs were used by a foot press operator for 8-10 hours a day. Legs are made of approx 1" angle steel and wrapped at the bottom with 7/8" pressed. Bent and welded steel. Each chair has fantastic patina and will be very similar in wear and age to the one pictured. Measures approx. 18" at the seat and 31" at the top of the back. It is about 30½" tall in the pictures. We would guess that it adjusts a little bit lower and about 2-3" taller. The seat has splits and needs to be glued or replaced. It has a rung missing and a couple"pins" that hold the legs onto the cast iron. Great original set of industrial stools. Based on style. Color, and design, I'd say these were probably made by Lyon. They are fully adjustable and come direct from a recently shuttered factory in Harrison, NJ. I was told that they were used by garment workers sometime between the 1930s and 1950s. These would be a great authentic addition to a kitchen island, breakfast bar, garage, machine shop, or restaurant. The limits are pretty endless. They're all quite sturdy and have their old masonite seats. I've replaced most of the pan-head screws that hold the masonite down to ensure that they're securely attached. This is a nice set that should be put right back to use. I've left them in original, uncleaned condition. GENERAL HISTORY: Late 1930's completely intact American vintage industrial revolving seat telephone switchboard operator stool or drafting chair designed and fabricated by the Johnson chair company for Western Electric. The original woven rattan seat remains in great overall condition. The sleek bent tubular steel legs and stationary footrest or heel ring retain the maroon finish. The slightly contoured backrest is fully functional and original to the stool. The solid threaded steel spindle or post rotates up and down with ease. If you screw out all the way the chair detaches from the base. The detachable pressed and formed steel purse holder located on the underside of seat is in excellent condition. The spring action on holder allows it to expand. The chrome steel feet with levelers are original to the chair. The Industrial chair is ... more43" tall at the lowest seat setting. And the seat at the lowest setting is 28" from the floor and goes up to at least 34" The seat is 16 3/8" wide and 14" deep. The feet are about 17" apart in the front and back and sides. This chair is exceptionally sturdy. It can easily be painted any color which is easy since the top chair part screws off the base. A really functional and comfortable antique chair and a part of history. The chair could easily be used for drafting, drawing, artists, or as a bar stool. I can ship this but prefer it be picked up. I just checked the price of mailing the chair and it is prohibitive. Even if I put the chair into two boxes(the USPS will not take the chair boxed in one box because it is too large) the price is $90 for each box if you live in Washington state from PA. I will be happy to take it to Greyhound Station but you have to have a station near you that will receive the chair. I am not sure of the price because it depends on your location.
