Very cool vintage Remington Rand desk chair most likely from the 1940's. It's in very good vintage condition with a very nice patina. The chair swivels smoothly and all the casters move and roll freely and easily. The unique solid flat steel base lends just a bit of bounce and acts as a kind of shock absorber. The dark green vinyl upholstery is free of any holes or tears. One of the screw in posts that acts as a bumper for the chair backrest was replaced. It still has original green perforated vinyl upholstery with no rips or tears. It's made of aluminum and steel. Measurements are as follows: Seat height-19" Base is 24" across, overall height is 34" and seat is 15.5" x 18" The Art Metal Co. was purchased by Knoll later on, making this a sought after Atomic Age/Industrial Collectible. Mid Century original lucite/acrylic chair by The Reflectone Corp. Tubular lucite back and legs. The tubular legs do show scratches. The backrest has lucite rope details holding 2 pieces in place. One side of the rope detail has broken off. See last picture. I am sure this can be fixed accordingly. Swivel round seat, upholstered in a light orange faux fabric vinyl. Seat/cushion is nice and firm(tight) Vinyl in good condition with no tears or rips. The seat swivels smoothly when you sit on it, but this swivel portion jiggles when no weight is on it. Now I don't know if it needs to be tighten or that's the way it is. Overall I would say this chair is in very good condition considering it's age that will need minor repair and/or adjustment. Measures 16½" long. 7" wide by 11½" high(extended) The bolt pattern for mounting to chair seat measures 6½" by 15½" Very heavy and is in good working condition… just needs a good cleaning and paint. Study the photos… they seem to say it all. These parts were covered with dirt. Dust, rust and whatever else may settle in an old barn. This is what we refer to in the trade as patina. The chair seat swivels and the chair rolls around on casters. 16" wide x 19" deep x 35-1/2" high overall with a 19" seat height as you see it in the pictures. Looking underneath I can see that you can lower it down about 1-1/2" and you have about 6" total screw extending down below the spinning disk. You should be able to raise it 2 or 3 inches anyway. Seat height would then range between about 17-1/2 and maybe 22" You merely turn the disk to change the seat height. I lowered the seat to the minimum for shipment. The seat back has a black material tacked into place on the sides. I think it looks like old leather. But I don't know for sure. Beautiful. I found a few issues which I think are not very noticable. There was a crack in the top of the upright back support timber that I had to glue(the crack extending below the slot was not glued) One nut securing that support was replaced with a more modern one at some point, there is a split in the wood surface on the back of the seat back, one tack is missing from the back support, and there is a

This solid oak Child's Roll Top Desk is a well made"time capsule" from the past in amazing vintage condition. Ready to serve new generations. It was made by the Paris Manufacturing Company of South Paris, Maine, probably around 1910 or later. It has a flexible roll top, flat writing surface, storage compartments with a little drawer, plus two larger drawers on the right. Other than some marker marks and pencil and crayon on the oak writing surface and the same on the inside bottom of the drawers. This has remained solid and beautifully crafted ready to hand down to a new fortunate child. At one time, this had a key for the drawers and the roll top. The bright green vinyl upholstery has been thoroughly cleaned and is nearly perfect aside from a few light lines on the rear of the backrest and and a couple of tiny nicks in the lower corner of the backrest(see photos) The metal parts have all been cleaned and polished. And all mechanical parts function properly. The backrest adjusts out and up, and the seat height adjusts from 15" to 20" The casters will be cleaned and re-lubricated prior to shipping. Vintage Antique c.1880s-90s Swivel Oak and Leather Chair J. S. Ford. Johnson& Company(Patent) The only evidence of the insignia on this chair that I can find is in the Official Proceedings of the Board of Commissioners of Cook County. Illinois 1889. I've posted a clip from the book that lists several J.S.F.K. Co. oak chairs from a courtroom. Maybe it was a juror's chair? I have no clue. I do think it's manufactured by J. S. Ford. Johnson& Co. in business in Chicago, Illinois,1872- 1916. Check out the Wiki article if you're curious, under Ford_and_Johnson_Chair_Company. I bought it because it's cool. It's also on the petite side. With the following approximate measurements: 32 inches high 20 x 17 inch seat 17 inch back Arms flair to about 24 inches wide Please see photos for the condition issues and ask any ... morequestions if something isn't clear. The upholstery seems to be leather and appears to be original other than someone's badly done black tape repair job. Someone apparently had a plant on the seat. The underside looks like burlap stuffed with batting(torn open on one side with other damage) The iron bits have some surface rust. The chair is missing the bolts or whatevers that would fasten it to the stand. But I sit on it as is and it's very comfortable, just a little tippy. It swivels and spins easily(whee! The wood appears to be oak and is in overall good shape for the age. You can see that it's not a solid piece but things seem well put together. There's some minor chipping on one of the little scrolls on the back and other signs of wear. But nothing I consider serious. You decide.
