Huge Swivel Turn-of-Century Pressed Back Oak Office Chair. After the Civil War America’s population was growing both in numbers. After the War people were ready for a little decoration in their lives. They didn’t want to pay an arm and a leg for fine hand-carved furniture and they didn’t have to. In the very late 1800s a process known as the steel die stamp could produce elaborate designs on chair parts for a cost of next to nothing. Here's how it worked: A design with sharp edges was etched into a metal plate mounted on a roller. Under extreme pressure this plate on roller was passed over a pre-cut. Steam-bent chair back to match the curve on the roller. Voila! A perfect impression of the etching that was literally pressed into the wood. Giving the effect of a three dimensional carving. Thus began the great era of the“press back” chair ... morein American furniture. Some etchings were so good that people believed they were hand-carved! Rarely do you find early pressed back office chairs like this one, with arrowhead spindles and bentwood arms. It is 22"wide by 51" tall- fit for a king- or a queen! VTG TIKI BAMBOO RATTAN SWIVEL STOOL TROPICAL PUFFY CUSHION RETRO CHAIR SEAT
For sale is a vintage Tiki Bamboo Heavy Duty Swivel Stool with a big puffy Salmon Pink Cushioned Top that measures 18 1/4 inches high. The seat is 16 inches in diameter and the cushion part without the bamboo 4 inches high so it's nice and comfortable. The diameter at the bottom of the legs is 18 1/4 inches. This is in very very nice condition. It's very sturdy and very heavy. There's a 3 1/4 inch split as shown in the last picture to the bottom of the one leg. It's a very thin split and I believe it's always been that way. That it was like that when it was made. Also you can see there's what looks like a little paint or something on the cushion side as shown in the 2nd to last picture. The cushion itself I would say is in excellent condition but could use a little wipe off with some soap and water. It's not really ... moredirty but could use a freshening up. There are some light scratches to the wood here and there but nothing major and as you can see there is a round hold on the seat base. Not sure why they made it that way. What's really nice is that it still has all 4 plastic floor protectors at the bottom of the legs. So many times those are missing or a few of them are. This stool swivels completely around in a circle. I haven't seen another one of these on ebay so possibly this is a rare piece. Any questions please just ask. The wood seat is 15 1/2" by 13 1/2" and adjusts vertically from 19" from the floor to 22" from the floor. It swivels 360 degrees. For sale is one vintage Remington Rand secretarial swivel chair from the 1930s. It is in excellent original condition. This Remington Rand chair features the early"leaf spring" steel base design of this type of chair. Before Goodform would make famous with a redesigned aluminum base. The backrest and metal plate behind the back cushion are aluminum, but they are painted the same gray color as the rest of the chair. The perforated vinyl cushions are in excellent original condition also; the seat has very minor wear on the front left corner, and the backrest has one rather noticeable spot of wear at the very top edge(pictured) All mechanical adjustments function properly. Seat height adjusts from 16"21" This chair also has its original casters, and, while they swivel properly and the bearings are good, the wheels are rather ... morechewed up. It still rolls fine, but you might want to find replacement wheels for the casters. Fortunately, they are made to be removed, as the axle is attached with a nut. A fine early example of a chair that would soon become a staple of the industry. And one that would look perfect in any vintage industrial or steampunk interior. Vtg All Steel ASE Industrial Metal Office Swivel Desk Chair Mid Century Modern
For auction is one stellar vintage All Steel Equipment(ASE) swivel armchair from the 1960's. This is one of my favorite desk chair designs from this era; the blend of industrial ruggedness and mod swagger is just perfect. Look at those lines. People! The angles of the arms and backrest, the tapered 4-prong base, the hooded casters.and that big black plastic ball on the tension adjustment lever underneath is like the period at the end of a beautifully written sentence. The upholstery is all original and in excellent condition. Though the foam seems to have deteriorated somewhat in front. It looks like it would be easy to have the foam replaced without sacrificing the upholstery, though. It would be a shame to get rid of the original vinyl and fabric blend, though, especially when the only flaw in the upholstery is just a little bit of ... morerubbing on the top rear edge of the backrest(pictured) The metal has been cleaned and polished. And the casters have been relubricated. There is a small amount of pitting on a couple of small areas on the 4-prong base(pictured) but otherwise the frame is rust-free and looks to be finished in brushed nickel plate. The upholstery has also been professionally cleaned. This chair is ready for immediate use! Antique Kenney Bros& Wolkins Adjustable Student Lift Top Desk with Bent Wood Swivel Chair. This design manufactured by Kenney Bros& Wolkins. 224 Congress St Boston from around 1925 to 1929. Lift top desk with ink well holder. Pen/pencil tray both on and in desk. Desk is adjustable forward and back on its supports by about 1” T he hinge mechanism holds desk lid in any position. Patent information stamped on hinge dates to late September 1925. Chair is bent wood with integral swivel and height adjustment. Swivel is spring loaded and allows the chair to rotate about 45 degrees either side of forward to allow student easy access to his or her desk. Steel tubular frame is extremely rugged and angled to reduce floor space required and provide stability from tipping over. Maple for durability and good looks. Seat spindles provided improved ... moreback support compared to other desk chairs at the time. Desk shows typical signs of use such as pencil and crayon marks but overall the surface finish is quite nice. Wood can be refinished as desired. Steel frame shows some surface rust in some places which can be easily cleaned and repainted authentically using today’s paint matching capabilities. Some history about the Kenney Brothers design: This ability for adjustment was a critical requirement based on studies of childhood ergonomics back in the 1910’s. Henry Wolkins sold office equipment to many schools in the Boston area in the late 1800's including Harvard University and Harvard Medical School. His father. FLH Wolkins came to the USA from Bremerhaven, Germany in 1855. He was a fresco artist and calligrapher whose works can be seen throughout the city and has been exibited in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. In 1902 Henry Wolkins merged his company with a furniture company named Kenney Brothers. Dimensions from floor to top of desk ~23” Desk top ~22” wide, seat height ~13” Length overall from desk front to chair back ~26” This is a small childs desk but is very heavy due to the steel frame. Vtg Machine Age Industrial Aluminum Mid Century 1951 GOOD FORM CHAIR Swivel
Up for auction is an original 1951 mid century era good form aluminum mill finish office chair. It is usable as is and the adjustments still work it does have dings and dents on the base and the original leather canvas with enamel covering show some wear as shown in the photo. The casters are shiny stainless steel but I do not believe they are original they may have been replaced in the 1960s. I will need to partially disassembled the chair by simply unscrewing the back adjustment making the back come off and pack neatly into the box to get it into cheaper shipping. The paperwork is on the bottom and the name tag is still on it. This will need refinishing and polishing and reupholstering to be a showpiece but use it as it is now has a primitive piece of industrial age office equipment. Thanks for looking. Posted with

Vintage Alma Desk Co. Chair I picked up this Neat Alma Desk Co Vintage Office Chair at an estate sale outside of Washington. DC. This vintage office chair is in good condition and has green vinyl material on the back seat and sides of chair cushion. I believe that the material on the cushion is cotton. There is one small nic in the vinyl. A missing black piece on the bottom where the wheels are and a few light orange spots on the cushion that I have not tried to remove. There are a couple of imperfections on the wood that is apart of normal wear. Since this item is large. Gunlocke , swivel office chair, approx. dated from the 1920's
This Gunlock swivel. Rocking office chair is in excellent condition. The seating part size is: 16" wide and 15" deep; chair height is adjustable and also the back support. This Gunlock sign was their logo in the 1920's. Don't know what kind of wood is made of(Oak or Walnut) I think the wheels have been replaced, but it rolls perfectly. Drexel swivel chair vanity chair? rare 1920's piece Nice!!
Here we have today is a great estate find. This 1920's Drexel swivel chair with leather seat. This nice chair is in great condition for a chair of it's age, really a quality piece of furniture. Chair does sit right on floor, the table in photo is not sitting strait. Chair is 25" from floor to the top of the rest, 17" from floor to the top of the seat, the seat is 19" in diameter. The rest is 18 1/2" from seat to the top of the piece and 19" across. The leather does have discoloration to it, a lot of this can be seen in the close up photos, but on big marks are large tears. There are cracks at the corners of the rest, I have shown photos of these. Chair does swivel smoothly and does not make a noise. There are some surface scratches and bumps to the edges of the wood, but nothing more than what is expected ... moreof a piece of furniture of this age. The bottom still has it's original tag and the date on the tag is 1923. This is really a great piece, Drexel collectors do not miss out on this fine piece. All items that we sell are used. Eames Era Danish Made Aluminum Swivel Chair Truly a classic Eames era 1960s or 1970s Danish design chair. Beautiful chair. Blue upholstery(zippered at bottom of seatback) Welded tubular steel internal frame, Aluminum arms and base, Black rubber arm rests. Chair rolls. Swivels and rocks. Chair height is adjustable. The wheels are stamped"Made in Denmark" on the steel wheel hardware. There are no other marks on the chair that we were able to locate, though there may be other identifiers inside the chair seat or back on the frame.
