I believe this Herman Miller Fiberglass shell chair is from the 1950's or 60's. It is in good condition with normal wear from age and use. Such as fading, scratches and some rough spots around the outside edges. A few of the scratches are a little deeper than others, and there is also a chip on the front edge of the seat. Please look at all of the photos to get a good idea of the condition. It comes with the stacking base which is in good condition and all of the round metal feet are present, but there is some surface rust. This is the smallest chair we have ever come across. And the cast iron pedestal base is perfectly level and flat- no tilt at all. I have taken pictures with the seat still attached with the 4 screws to the pedestal base and I also took pictures after we removed the wooden seat. We are going to ship the chair with the seat NOT ATTACHED. We are including the original mounting screws so attaching the base to the seat again will be easy– only a flat tip ... morescrewdriver needed. The chair stands 21 ½” tall when the seat is attached. The wooden chair by itself is 13 ¼” tall at the back and the seat is 10 ½” x 11” x 1 ¼” The wood is in very good condition with minor signs of wear and scuff marks and scratches on the top surfaces. The bottom of the seat has a few cracks in the wood and a very old small chunk of wood that came out– all if which has occurred over the years– please look at the pictures to get a better idea of these minor flaws. The cast iron pedestal base(by itself) weighs 5lbs. Stands 9” tall, measures 7 3/8” across the round bottom, 8 ¼” across the top, and the center post is about 2 ¼” wide. Both the top and bottom surfaces have 4 holes for mounting screws. The pedestal base has the original black paint, most of which still in place. There is one minor flaw on this piece– a small hole in the cast iron that measures ¼” x 3/8” this hold occurred during the manufacturing process and in no way at effects the structural integrity or strength of the base. RARE Vtg Leather Armless Swivel Judge Attorney Desk Chair Tiger Walnut Base #1
For auction is one of two available rare leather armless attorney chairs from the 1940s. This chair was used in the old Ramsey County courthouse in Minnesota prior to its demolition in the 1980s. The lines of this chair have an elegant masculinity. And the tall back adds drama. It has its original shiny black leather upholstery, which has cracked and worn beautifully on the seats. Despite the cracks, there are no rips anywhere. The wear is otherwise minimal, with only minor scuffs along the edges, and a few areas of minor surface cracking on the backrest(see photos) The beautiful solid tiger walnut base is extremely well constructed, and has brass caps on the tips with a nice patina. The steel stock assembly has a nice bronzed finish and works properly; it tilts and raises up and down a couple inches on a threaded column. No major scratches ... moreor wear to the base. Adjustable Heywood Eclipse cast iron/stamped steel base pedestal table chair leg
This pedestal has a cast iron base. And a stamped steel top. It adjusts from 10- 1/2" to 16- 1/2" in height. It is 8- 7/8" across the bottom and the top is about 7" square. Some of the original black finish remains, but there is also some rust. It is marked"Heywood" on one side and"Eclipse" on the other. Also, there is a"3" There are 5 counter sunk holes around the perimeter of the base and 4 in the top. It has no breaks or repairs, but it also does not sit flat(see further description) The height is adjusted by loosening the 7/8" hex head bolt on the upper part of the cast iron base. Moving the top piece, and then re-tightening the bolt. This pedestal was designed to be screwed to the floor. When it is screwed fast. The screws prevent it from wobbling. The foam seat cushion has been replaced and is ready for the fabric cover to be designed and installed. There is a sixth chair and base which I will give to the buyer. I do this because the cast aluminum swivel mechanism broke and was apparently discarded. If you are able to find a new swivel mechanism. Then you have a sixth chair for nothing. This piece was well kept with little wear and is free of the chips that are often seen on these bases. There is a light scratch(picture 6) and an expected age appropriate patina to the wood but overall a wonderful and hard to find replacement base for your Plycraft MR Lounge. Antique 1888 Oak Chair Frame Base Tilts/Swivels/Rolls/Height Adjusts Office/Desk
Patent dates of 1887 and 1888. 2 of the rollers don't exactly match. they are the same diameter but not quite as wide. They all swivel and rolls good but you'll want to oil them a little before you reinsert them into the frame. Working height of about 15" to 20" before it starts to get a little wobbly. Base is 19 1/2" across the closest points-26 3/4" diameter. The part that you bolt your chair to is 17 1/2" long by 8" wide. Bolt holes are 16 1/16" x 6 3/4" center to center. You can bolt pretty much any chair you want to to it. If yours have legs you can remove them. You'll want a fairly thick bottom chair and if yours is thin you'll want to reinforce it with a thicker piece of wood then screw it fast to this frame. Several minor drying cracks that go nowhere.
