Vintage 1940s Franklin Signet Gold Leaf Embosser for Hickok - Working
This is a 1940's Franklin Signet Embosser for gold leaf made by the Franklin Mfg. Corp. in Norwood. Mass. The patent number dates to the late 1930s. This is a working embosser on a 9" x 6-1/2" wood platform with a drawer for the fonts. Not all of the type fronts are there as you can see in the photograph. A and U are missing. This embosser was apparently made for Hickok store use as the Hickok name is on 2 sides. There is an Off, Low, Medium, High and On switch. Overall it looks to be in nice condition.

It also comes with 6 boxes(original boxes) of stamps. There are two of each number one is caps and one is lower case. This is used and may have some wear. Franklin Mfg Signet Embossing Machine Embosser Vintage Works!
This is a really cool old Franklin Signet electric embossing machine. It comes with a drawer full of type set. And a small roll of the foil stuff that it uses to imprint. The base is wood and has really nice dovetail joints as does the drawer. It starts heating immediately when turned on, and has several heat settings. This particular machine was used to put room numbers on key fobs.there are some of the rings still in the drawer. There is a foil label on the front that says American Hotel Register Company. This is a really cool and historical piece that can still be used today! Please look closely at all of the pics as I am not at all familiar with this machine. And have no way to know if everything is there.it comes with everything you see, including the dust.it is just as I discovered it. I do not know how to use it so look closely at the pictures to see what it comes with and doesn't come with. The cord appears to have been repaired(see close up pics near the switch) I'm not sure of how all of the levers/buttons operate nor which position they should be in. Vintage Franklin Signet Embosser Hot Foil Stamp Type Set Machine w/ Dura Foils
Up for your consideration is this Franklin Signet Embosser with 4 rolls of foils. I do not know much about this product other than what it is labeld and reading about similar products here on e-Bay. I've taken several pictures to hopefully help you determine if all parts are there and for you to decide the condition you feel it is in. I have plugged it in and it DOES heat up. I will try to describe this to the best of my knowledge and the condition I see it in. If you would like more info or more detailed pictures please let me know. This item is labled Franklin MFG. Corp Norwood Masss. U.S.A. U.S. Pat. 2025691 CAN. Pat. 365284. On the handle it is marked Franklin Signet Embosser. The power switch features off.Low,med,high options. I only plugged it in and put it on high and the machine did get hot. As you can see in the pictures the ... morecord is frayed some near the power switch, I think it is just the insulation to the cord as this powered up and there were no sparks or sizzling noises. The wooden case is in sturdy, solid condition with a drawer for suppllies. The paint has rubbed off some and there are some surface scratches. Included are 4 rolls of Dura foil. The silver colored roll is unused and labeled Dura Colored Foil. There are 3 gold foil rolls, 2 are used and 1 is unused and labeled 23K Dura Gold Leaf. There are also several cardboard like pieces that look like slides to a microscope. The machine itself feels solid and the handle moves freely. The black knob on the side also turns but could use some oil. There is light surface rust on the light metal colored pieces that may or may not come off. The wooden base measures 9.25" long, 6.5" wide and 2.5" tall. Please look at the pictures to determine if this is complete. I am selling this AS IS and how you see it in the pictures. I honestly do not know the value of this item with the foils so I will accept the best offer. Franklin Signet Imprinting Hot Foil Emossing Embosser Stamp Type Machine. This machine has been tested and is working. Plugged the unit on high for a few minutes and set unit to medium and used a section of scrap foil in the drawer to imprint on a piece of paper.see last picture where I embossed the words EBAY three times. This unit comes with the machine. Scrap used foils pieces in the drawer and the manual. The manual is full of embossed test prints but does not deter from reading the instructions. The machine cord is slightly stiff and somewhere half way of the cord the insulation cracked.so it is being held with electrical tape. Overall the machine has been sitting for several years in a shop so it is dusty. Few of the steel parts are showing slight signs of rust. Dimensions of unit is 7" inches tall and base is 9.25" inches ... morex 6.5" inches.

Thanks for viewing this auction. Here is a great find. It is two sets of Dura Cast Type hot stamping letters. Set#2833 and#721, produced by Franklin Manufacturing. Take a look at the pictures and judge this lot for yourself. They come to you in used but look to be real good condition for the age. I do not know what was originaly in these sets when new but there seems to be a great selection in the#2833 which are the upper case but smaller sized letters.
